• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. Drilling holes in rear trunk wall

I am in the process of installing the bluetooth dongle on my RT.

I do not want the dongle in the frunk, as I have all the electronics in the back already and keep my helmet in the frunk (only when I take it off) .

I was thinking of installing the dongle on the right wall of the rear trunk, on the same side as the FM antenna. There would be enough room in the speaker/armrest area to coil the cable and make a clean install.

Does anyone know if I am asking for trouble with water infiltration if I drill holes in this side wall ?

Ben,
I know about as little about electronics as a human can in the 21st Century. :opps:
It would seem that if you seal the opening up real well;
But I don't know if putting it back there by the antenna might cause some sort of interference issue between them... :dontknow:

We have one, no two, no three .............. um heck we have a bunch of holes back there and never had a problem with water

My suggestion would be to take off the tupperware surrounding the trunk opening and then you'll have a better idea of where is a good spot to drill and where not to drill. Just be carefull :lecturef_smilie: as it is one big piece of tupperware surounding the opening and those two little tabs the go above each side saddlebag can be a real PITA to remove and get back in position correctly without breaking one :sour: Trust me

But as Bob mentioned, I have no clue about BT & interference being in such close proximity back there.

I did something similar, but attached it with a home made bracket to the back. I secured the bracket with one of the screws for the back rest, and already had a hole for the wires going down behind the seat ( I had a wired Chatterbox in there previously)

There is also no interference between the radio, and the Bluetooth.

That is exactly what I did and I haven't had any problems. You can see pics here. Go down to #22 post. http://www.spyderlovers.com/forums/...dding-BRP-Bluetooth-Dongle-Questions-Answered I mounted it on the back wall of the trunk but I drilled a hole in the right side for the wiring.

The existing wholes are for screws, which get tightly plugged. I was more worried about the cable and the rubber grommet.

I had already removed the rear tupperware and the right hand speaker/armrest assembly so I will be able to figure-out where to drill.

Tx for the replies.
