I did this year, kind of
for the life of me i can't figure out what makes people camp out at a store waiting for it to open. i do understand with the economy people want their kids to have a good x mass, but is it worth getting hurt and arrested and in some cases pepper sprayed or trampled over a sale. i personally would never do it no matter how much i wanted something. so what are your thoughts on this, would you do it.
Yesterday I went to Wall-mart for some stuff I needed. They had a BBQ I wanted, some stuff my wife wanted, but the sale started at 6PM. Talking to an employee about how people are in line already in the groceries section, and was told they were giving tickets out at 4PM to get stuff. I told my wife I will come back at 4 PM for a ticket, but when I got there that person did not know what I was talking about. My wife and I decided the BBQ for $99.00 (savings of $60.00) was not worth not being home with family, so we went home. After we finished eating and cleaning up my daughter, wife, and I went back. The BBQ was sold out, my wife found what she wanted, and I was able to get a gift for each of my daughters.
Have to admit it was an experience to do, was not crazy at all, and in fact a bit exciting. The Wall-mart had a line to get in, would only let about 20 customers in at a time, had sections to wait in line for things, and checking out, and police EVERY WHERE. What I did not like was having to have your receipt checked twice to leave, but I am sure the thief's were out in force too, so I understand this part. They had stuff shrink-wrapped with signs saying not to be sold until midnight, and really good prices on them. While the prices were good, nothing worth staying up so late, and dealing with a crowd for. I saw one family with four baskets full of stuff when I left at 7:30PM.
The whole area being stocked with item for sale made me want to buy things that I really did not need, but my wife made me put back the large box of chocolate candy :yikes: for $10.00. Sad thing was I forgot the 9-volt battery I did need, and now have to go back today.
