There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. Disconnecting Fuel and Water Temp Gauge

New owner of 2011 RTS here, will be picking up in 10 days. I have read most posts going back several years and have a question regarding the fuel and temp gauges. To get the readout on the main screen instead of the gauges I know you have to disconnect them, do you have to disconnect both or can you just do one. I was going to leave the fuel gauge activated and just disconnect the temp gauge to get the readout on the main screen and replace it with a volt meter.

Also for those that may have the Corbin seat, can you get away with keeping the stock passenger trunk/backrest or does it not match well enough. Also, has anyone had the driver portion of the seat moved back a little and will Corbin do this.

Thanks for any help.

You have to disconnect both. and if you take your Spyder in for service be sure to tell them that you purposely disconnected them or they might reconnect them for you - my dealer did.

:welcome: The Corbin seat can be built to your specs ( better if you can go there ) just tell them what you would like done. May I suggest you ask for the Lamonster's Cut as you will sit in the seat as oppossed to on it .(Helps with body english on those tight corners ) also the stock backrest goes well with the Corbin seat IMHO as long as you don't get the Spider Web stitching . When and if you get the Corbin seat, save yourself a lot of grief and take the locking seat pin off. Love the Corbin seat. Had one on my RS for 28,000 miles and now have one on the RTS for 12,000 + miles.

Same as above. I have 23,000 on my first Corbin seat--it went with the 2008 when I sold it. I also have over 20,000 on my second Corbin seat on the RTS. No special stitching or Lamonster cut on mine. And yes, leave the locking pin out--it is just a pain to get right on.

I have the Corbin seat, but retained the RT passenger back-rest. The visual differences weren't enough to offset the cost of the backrest.

Hi Bill, sorry I wasn't able to get back to your PM sooner. Thought I would post it here as well since your not the only one that wants to do this. and Welcome to SpyderLovers :yes:

This is the Volt Gauge i got. In the package you can configure any set up you want with black/white facing and chrome/Black bezel.

They also sell a rubber boot that you want to get to help with being as water resistant as possible.

The oil pressure gauge is available in 0-100 or 0-150psi. My oil pressure has never been above 75, however my mechanic said it could go slightly above 100 so I got the higher calculating one. :dontknow:

There is another part from another comapny to have this gauge work. It is because of the threading.

and this is where you can get it from :$12.50 + shipping

The above info I lifted from another spyderlover- so Thanks

As far as the corbin seat, I would call Corbin and hear it direct from the horses mouth. If you want to match the same texture leather & vinyl used on the stock seat with same color threading I would assume it is possible. They can dish the seat and move it up or back to your preference. However with that being said I would wait and go to Spyderfest at the end of April and sit on my corbin, Lamonster cut and even Forrests (effgjamis) seat. Forrest had extra support put on the sides under the outer thighs for a longer ride comfort. They (Corbin) said they had never done that on motorcycle seats before because on two wheels you are constantly putting your legs down to balance back at a stop, where in the spyders you never have to do this.

I have also sat on seats where either a utopia or corbin backrest made such a positive riding enhancement too!

Next Spyder I get I am gonna have the Forrest cut added

Bar Gauge & low fuel light + ELKA

Replaced the original analog with volt and oil pressure also. Kept ther low fuel light by using a T.

The bar graph is no more accurate than the gauge was. Warning lite normally comes on with 4 gallons used and about 2 more in the tank. I don't fill up due to the gas smell issue many have had. I guess at about 1 inch below filler neck, it's got 6 gallons in it. On Saturday I was riding to see some friends and even stopped at the Harley place to say hello. Parked the Big Red Bug right in the front, like I owned the place. Anyway, with the bar graph at 2 "units" the warning lite came on, normally does that at 1 block. Continued for my normal 30 or 40 more miles and the bar went to 1 quickly, then to blank at about 140 miles. It kinda startled me, it hasn't done that before. I continued another 15 miles or so before I chickened out and bought gas. 5.2 to go 168 miles. So between the old gauge, the new bar graph and the same warning light, I guess I'll stick with option 4 and gas up at about 160 miles, which I normally do anyway. I have noticed I'm going about 10 MPH faster on the narrower, more curvy roads, I'm up to 20 mph now - no, I'm not that bad, yet. The ELKAs really work. I haven't had a ticket since 1975, so I'd better watch it or my record will be flushed away in a heartbeat.

Happy New Year to all you great folks.
