Dilemma what do you say about a '13 when people ask you about it?

Just what I posted I used to gush about it and explain why it is so much better than earlier ones. Now what do I say to interested people considering my concerns and how could I recommend it to anyone?

I think you should give a thoughtful and honest response or refrain from responding at all. I've not taken the time to research your concerns, which you have not detailed in this post, so I really could not be specific, but, if your concerns are universal, you can let that be known. If your concerns seems to be for issues you alone or few are experiencing, make sure you tell them that too.

It is a 2013 that should tell you the issues they have ben posted ad nauseam. Only one I haven't had was catching on fire:yikes:

I tell anyone who asks about this great machine that i have the truth, it is a great machine. I know some will argue with that statement but that is the truth on my Ryde.

This is a dilemma....I use to be BRP's best cheerleader.....now I do my best to just be polite....a good friend ask just recently.....they are going to purchase a 2012 RSS....just to let y'all know ...I have loved each and every mile on my Spyder...2009 RS 2013 ST-L.....65,000 miles...it's the down time that sucks

:agree: The downtime with Fawkes was tough; but I was always honest about what was going on with the bike...
And I'm still a cheerleader; only without Char's good legs! ;)

Being truthful about this issues of the :spyder2: is the way to go--if asked.

I have also been a cheerleader for the product, but listen carefully to complaints that have to do with the product. I don't get to excited about those who have come on and ranted ad nauseum about issues and had unreasonable demands. We know who they are and I believe they have passed from the site.

The legitimate complaints by those who call themselves cheerleaders are another thing. I have watched a few go from enthusiastic to "polite" about the product and the issues they have experienced. It has actually been somewhat sad for me to see longtime customers have problems, and the issues taking such a long time to resolve. It has affected me to the point where my level of cheerleading has changed quite a bit. Sorry.

I am still enthusiastic about the prospects for 2014 (RE the RT). It will be great when the issues/problems on SL get back to the more positive side.

I have ridden thousands of miles with a couple of 2013 RT owners and they have had no appreciable problems. Can't help but believe that the negative outlook towards the 2013 got a mega bump from the 2014 introduction with all its bells and whistles. I have ridden every bike since 2009 model - I liked some things some I did not.. Some times I was angry at BRP sometimes not .. in the end the overall experience was the best riding in my life and I am getting ready to buy the 14 and keep having fun.

The truth...

The best service you can perform as a Spyder owner is to speak the truth when asked about your experience. My 13 ST-L has had overheating issues, but the dealer & BRP were quick to respond...and follow up after the fix(es) were applied. I have had much more joy than anguish with my acquisition and would not necessarily dissuade someone else from the purchase. Some were worse than others, but my experience has been a great one thus far. Many more days of smiles than frowns...

It's best just to be honest, if people are interested there's a lot of info on them out there good and bad, and if there asking you questions sure they'd would ask others as we'll not everyone has the same issues.

A Former 2008 RS owner recently Upgraded to the 2012 RT-S

I'm just jumping in here wanting to hear the comparison of the 2012, 2013, and 2014 RT-S! I'm in California and just purchased the 2013 at a very good price. But I'm interested in knowing what technology improvements were made with the 2014. My 2012 is a pure joy!

Search Is your friend  This thread is about all of us who know what the problems are and how we will react when people ask us about our bikes now that we have had them and the issues we have faced. You might want to start a new thread and not hijack this one.

:agree: I haven't had the issues others have complained of with my 2013. I wonder if that's because we both purchased from Pit Bull?

If I'm not mistaken I think both Flamingobabe and SpyderAnn bought there '13 Spyders from Pitbull, and we all know the issues they both have had (in Char's case, is still having).

I hope SpyderAnn's '14 Spyder is the best one ever and I hope Flamingobabe's '13 gets fixed so it is better than new...both those true Spyder Lover's deserve nothing less!

I have yet to own a vehicle when after the purchase they was not some issue with the exception of my Piagio. Which doesn't fit my needs now. The problems I have had have been handled well by the local dealership in Coeur d'Alene. I think the central problem is that the :spyder2: er's don't seem to have problems during down times like rainy days or winter. So it is when we want to ride that they are in the shop. And there have been dealership problems when bykes do break. I am noticing more positive notes on Spyderlovers about dealers. So there seems to be some positive movement in that area. I am approached frequently about my Spyder and refer interested peeps to this sight. I am very positive and truthful about my experiences. Specific problems can be handled. Just a reminder :spyder2: has only been on the market 5 years. I think :spyder:is way a head of any other manufactures after 5 years of production. How long was the joke about checking the oil on your Harley not to far from the truth? ;)

I believe the bump of complaints started when BRP did the recall on the master cylinder, canister, etc...then owners started find their master cylinder etc had melted...then the scare factor ...fire...I've been complaining since the Owner's Event....went straight to Dany.....from there it's been downhill:banghead::banghead::bdh::bdh::bdh::bdh::bdh::banghead::banghead: and hopefully there is a light at the end of this tunnel....I love my Spyder miles
