There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. First owned but not first ridden

My Spyder is the first bike that I personally owned but definitely not the first bike I rode. I would like to see a poll asking if the Spyder is the first bike that they have ever driven or if they had experience with other bikes:doorag:

I rode bikes before the Spyder but the Spyder was the first cycle-type vehicle I have ever actually owned, so I chose yes as well. Now we own 2 Spyders and the Zook 1250FA.

Never before rode in my life but was in my dreams and was on my bucketlist ~ and WAHLAA ~ I LOVE my Rosie.

Downer: Since moving out of Cali now need to apply for a motorcycle endorsement to ride Rosie. AAAAA!
Upper: I'm confident today and know I can pass the test. MM

I think this poll is pretty interesting. I actually thought the ratio of new riders would be higher, but I think 30% is still high. For instance, what do you think the 1st time ratio would be for a Goldwing or HD trike? My guess is much lower that for the Spyder.

The reason I posted this poll with 'Owned' is to weed out those that never committed to a motorcycle to the point of ownership. In other words, many people will test ride or borrow someone elses bike, but it isn't until they buy that there is enough committment to really count.

Some vehicles simply cut the pie into smaller slices (a buyer goes from one motorcycle to another), but a very few vehicles actually bake a brand new pie! The Spyder has brought more people into the motorcycle arena instead of taking riders from other brands more than most new models.

Teds 2010 Black RT-S was our First Motor-Cycle type vehicle EVER for us

and we're now on our second :spyder2: with Teds Red Sled :firstplace: I never rode a two-wheeler, cause around Cincinnati in the summer time, you hear about motorcycle accidents almost on a daily basis in the news & so many end in fatalities. Simply put, with the ever present ability to lay one down on your own, not to mention all the crazy cagers out there, I never trusted myself to even give a 2 wheeler a chance nojoke
Once I saw the Spyder, with its 3wheeled stance removing the fear of laying it down, I was hooked  & have been ever since :joke::clap::2thumbs::doorag:

Started out riding back in the early 70's when it was still "uncommon" to see a woman with her own bike. Had to start with the lowly Yamaha 200 to get my cycle endorsement but at least it was not restricted to the bigger bikes. From there it was a steadt climb to an 850 before my last pre-spyder bike, a nice 650 V Star Classic. Got concerned with the 2 artificial knees and the bum hip and love the fact that I no longer need to put the foot down! LOL...

Did you get started on one of the RD 200s??
To get started; just slip the clutch and watch the blue smoke fly! :roflblack:

Although it doesn't indicate the numbers in the poll, the posts here also indicate a large number of people that had not ridden in many years...who started up again because of the Spyder. Those two groups, new riders and ex-riders, were BRP's stated demographic target, as I recall. I'd say they hit the target quite well. I think what surprised them was probably the number of older riders who found this to be far preferable to the heavy machines they rode before, or who never rode but always wanted to. The number of physically challenged riders is quite large, too. The Spyder is a natural for them, but was not aimed at that group, either. The Spyder has certainly filled several niches! It is even a compelling ride for the veteran riders among us.

Never owned nor rode a bike before I got my Spyder.:hun: Always wanted to, but I was afraid I could not hold it up. Heard about the Spyder, looked it up on the internet, called a dealer and made a deal over the phone.:clap: The rest is history. I LOVE my Spyder. I have now checked one item off my bucket

list.:yes::yes: Next item---- SKYDIVING:yikes:

this is my 5th . I had a 96 and a 99 Suzuki Gsxr 750, then went to a 05 Yamaha YZF-R6 then my wife and I bought a 2010 Ninja 250 for her but she doesnt ride it anymore .. and NOW we have the spyder . I love the fact the Spyder is pulling more and more people away from the dark syde ;P and they are becoming bikers

So when does the first spyder clone from a major mfg. show up...and who will it be? Honda? .....We need a price stabilizer...or BRP does...nojoke

I did indeed start with the RD 200. Quite the "cute" little bike and especially good for taking the test. Small and maneuverable and no restrictions on the license. I think I owned the bike all of 4 weeks, took the test and traded up to the 350 model with the 6 speed racing engine. Now may I just say, that was one fun ride! Rarely able to get to 6th (and stay legal that is).

Our Spyder is the first motorcyle we ever rode or owned. On October 15 2010 our son was killed in Balad Iraq. The PGR were there for us, so we joined the PGR to give back. But we were so tired of being the only cage. We test drove and took a class on how to ride a Spyder. Fell in love with it and bought it. :DWe ride in honor our our son Sr Airman James A Hansen, who by the way did not like motorcycles.

Started with a Honda 450 Nighthawk as my first bike. Went in the Army and sold it. Came back and got a Honda VFR700 Interceptor. Moved to the mountains and it didn't do well on dirt do I got a Honda XR650L. Notice the trend here with Honda? Got me a Honda generator too. Can't beat them.

Wife was looking for a long time for a trike and saw a comercial on saturday morning for Can Am. Looked for a dealer, went and talked to them and rode a '10 RTS home that night. She wanted to start riding so we went to an empty parking lot and let her do about 50 miles there. She got tired riding on the back after learning so we now own 2 Spyders.

2010 RT-S and 2011 RS-S

One having ridden and owned 2 wheelers before
One having never ridden or owned anything before

There seems to be no end to the reasons people own a Spyder. This one is about as unique as I've ever heard. I am very sorry for your loss, but I do very much appreciate what your son did for his country. Our military does not get enough credit for what they do.

Thank you BajaRon.
