There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. Did you get your DPS done yet?

DPS Recall

Both mine are done in time for riding season, I hope you got yours done too. Best to get it done now than when the rush starts. nojoke

Been on a waiting list since October and just got the call that I am next in line for the DPS. Scheduled for Friday the 25th. Anything I should know before. I have never had issue with my RS and really not wanting to do anything to jeopardize my good fortune with my Spyder. Any advice would be appreciated. Seems reviews are mixed whether people like the changes.

dps

done. different, too much assist at higher speeds but have adjusted to it. less effort in challenging roads. either way, it had to be done as it's safety related and rider is liable if in an accident...

Got mine up to Freedom Cycle in Concord, NH this morning. They said they had two DPS units to install, to get two old ones out and sent back to BRP. One of the two new DPS units as the result of this swap will be mine. I'm real excited to be getting this done. Finally!! Can't wait to ryde it home!!! I'll report back to this thread when I have a ryde report with the new DPS. :doorag:

got mine back yesterday, only rode 6 miles because of wet roads from melting snow. will find out if there any differences if winter ever ends around here!

Had my RT-S's DPS replaced day before yesterday. Did some riding yesterday and today to see how it felt, and I have to say I'm pleased...

I think it was Roadkill who used the word "notchy" and that resonated with me ---- the steering now feels smoother and the assist more fluid as if being applied in infinitely incremental amounts, where what I recalled from the original DPS had sort of a notchy assist apply feel, that I could feel throughout the steering event.

Was only able to get in about 60 miles of riding last few days (at slower speeds than I'd like since it's only been 25-30 degrees F here :gaah:), but early indications are that the new DPS is feeling very good!! :2thumbs:

DPS Recall Report

Took my bike this morning at 9 a.m. for the recall and received a call just before 3p.m. that it was ready to go. Service Techs were very friendly and everything went smooth. Drove 30 miles home on a country highway with some turns 65-70 miles per hr. bike handled smoothly. Tried to pick up on any differences in steering and would agree with others that it was subtle, felt easier and smoother. Never had problems either way... here's to continued success.

I woke the tangerine terror from its long winter nap she roared to life then took it for the dps update and felt a difference but when i really noticed the difference is when i finally put the right air pressures in the tires which i forgot to do after a long winters nap.

Oh..yess~~

As I read of the delays and problems some of our members are having with this DPS thing, I'm even more grateful and perplexed as to how easily Kim & I got ours done on both our RT's. Thank you "Elizabethton ATV" in Elizabethton TN. While on a 5000+ mile trip last fall, passing through Tennessee, I made a call to ETATV and asked them if they could possibly do the R&R on our DPS's. They said absolutely bring'er in. Called them on one day...had them in on the next, all while in the middle of a trip. That was Sept. 28th, 2010. Just call us Mr. & Mrs. Lucky I suppose. They even had some treats for our dog while we waited. Len

Wow, can't beat service like that. Since the dealer I bought my Spyder from closed, I have been using a different one. We had to wait for him to take care of all the Spyders he sold to have theirs done before he would do ours. At least I wasn't having any problems with mine before it was replaced.

Was told by dealer today that my new 2010 RTS will have the DPS replaced and out of storage and delivered by 3rd week of April :2thumbs::2thumbs::2thumbs::2thumbs::2thumbs::2thumbs::yes::yes::yes::yes::yes::yes::yes::yes::yes::yes::yes:

Glad to hear they took care of your issue under warranty. Good timing as well, as Spyderfest draws near.

Missed my window. Dealer told me to bring it in 6 weeks ago as they had DPS sitting there... Now they are waiting on a new spare to be refurbed back to them...

Current DPS is fine for now. Told them to take my VIN and process an order if that helps get them what they need.

DPS Recall?

Yes, I recall my DPS recall. It was done in February. Nice update. RT-S PE 0391 keeps a nicer line, and together with the Elkas, almost no effect by wind.

Hi Everbody
I am new to this forum and new to the Canam Spyders.
Loving it so far I have got a second hand RS 2008 model.
I am experiencing times where my steering goes really hard as if the power steering has failed.
How can I tell if mine has had the recall work performed?
Would it be covered by warranty if I am now the second owner?
Thanks in advance
Rob

I would bet large money that you have the dreaded power steering problem. I would be very careful with that.

It is a safety recall so it should be done be the dealer if it has not been. I would think that calling a dealer or th e factory would allow you to determine whether it has been done or not.

Yes sometimes going into a corner fast and really have to push the steering so hard it is a bit of a panic.
Are BRP doing this for free? Even if I am not the original owner.
Certainly takes a lot of confidence away from me.
When it is working it is great but when it fails it is scary.
Then the next corner it works when you are expecting it not to work and nearly run off the road.

Get to a dealer and have them input your Spyder's V.I.N. into the system. It'll take them no time to tell you what's been done, and what NEEDS to be done.
Good Luck!
