• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. Did you get your DPS done yet?

I just got back home from having mine done at Cowtown. 7 hour trip each way. Stayed at the (restored) Wagon Wheel Motel Monday night. First thing Tuesday Morning the crew got to working on R&R the DPS, R&R 2 new front tires and align and install Ride-On, align and adjust drive belt, install HMT light, service the bike and test ride.
While I was there Bumblee and G-Man happened to stop by. It was good seeing them again.
Got a chance to talk to Len for awhile. From all that I heard about the activities planned, Spyderfest is going to be a "Happening".
Over all a very good experience with Cowtown. Thanks to the whole crew!
PS. Mrs.Pitbull Buggy is coming along fine.

You are the man! If I was in need of another dealer, I wouldn't mind traveling and staying overnight either, to get to a great dealer like Cowtown.

Mine's done!

Took the Spyder to my dealer where I purchased it, and while they replaced the DPS the tech said they were going to replace the exhaust gaskets too, (He heard something while it was running). They were going to have to order the BRP ones when I suggested the Honda versions and retrieved the part number from this site. They are also a Honda dealer, had the part in stock, and were amazed by such a good fit that they made a note that all future gaskets were going to be the Honda ones.

Got the DPS done last fall and still waiting for the Evap Cannister Hose update, that was going to be done at the sametime but for the lack of parts.

Now got a new service manager that said it wasn't covered and wrote Carlo, who straightened out this new service manager and was told by Carlo that BRP is covering it and has shipped the parts. Now two weeks later I'm still getting the run around with this new service manager who said he called me and didn't. If he had? It would have gone to my cellphone and I have service's number in my phone.

Than said let me check with parts and 3 seconds later said we don't have the kit and will have to order it from BRP and it could take 3 to 5 days, if not longer to get here. You know how BRP is? Oh I know!?!?

Now I've gotten parts there and never in 3 seconds, did I get an answer that they didn't have it.

I also know if the order isn't put in? It will never be done and I got that feeling. :dontknow:

So rather than arguring and getting frustrated with this Knucklehead, I'll let Carlo and company handle it.

d.p.s. done

yep, had mine done a couple mo ago, I had the 1st. electric shift, in colo-2008 , butt had a dps fault twice, & went into limp home mode twice, (since new d.p.s. unit), dealer re-set steering angle twice, & seems too have cured the problem so-far, about a thousand miles, since dealer re-set. has any body had any similar problems ???

Got mine done in late December. Have not been on the road to see how it handles. The Dealer trailered it to the shop and brought it back to me. Snow to deep and tons of salt and sand on the roads up here. A cool -5 degrees here this morning so the white stuff is not going away soon. Can't wait to get back on 3 wheels. The Rt looks pretty board out in the garage. Pretty jealous with you folks riding this time of year.

I had mine done in November and put the Spyder to bed for the winter. Couldn't tell much of a difference in the short ride home from the dealer.
I will be getting it out as soon as the roads get a good cleansing to wash off all the sand and salt.

Mine also went into Limp about 27 miles after I left my Dealer. They reset the steering angle and I haven't had any problems in 4500 miles.:2thumbs:

DPS this week

Got a call from Jason at Palmer's earlier this week saying it was "my time" to get the DPS replaced in the RS. I checked the weather and decided it didn't look good for Saturday(today).
However today, I walked outside early this afternoon, a warm breeze hit me... I called Palmer's , the DPS was still available, I'm on my way. Got the Spyder out of the garage, warmed her up, checked the oil, checked the tires, gave things a look see and we were good to go. It's maybe 45 minutes from home to the dealer ,left around 3PM, overcast but 58-60 degrees! Great to be on the bike, easy ride. Bike ran great.
So the plan- DPS, steering angle reset, steering lock cylinder(never was able to lock the steering), state inspection, front drive sprocket bolt check, and hopefully next Saturday I get a good day to pick it up!
Springs around the corner now!!

Bill

mine has been done as well. Took it in as soon as I had the letter from BRP. So far it's been great!

When we got ours done, they had us ride it a little and then put it back on the rack to be sure the steering angle was still in spec. I think that is probably a good idea but some dealers may short cut that aspect.

Don't know if BRP includes that in the swap proceedure or if our dealership just does it on their own.

My dealer (One hour drive) Says I would have to leave it overnight as its a 5 hour job:yikes:even though BRP only gives them 2-3 hours labor?
I,ll try the dealer near me (20 minutes) and see what they say!

Both mine are done in time for riding season, I hope you got yours done too. Best to get it done now than when the rush starts. nojoke

Going tomorrow for DPS #2 on old PE #2929, finally.

BTW, a bit of Coast Guard trivia regarding the expression "beat the rush":

The Revenue Cutter (now US Coast Guard) Rush was a late 19th century scourge on poachers in the Bering Sea looking to illegally harvest seals off the coast of the new American territory of Alaska.

Poachers would try to get their illegal work done quickly to "beat the Rush" if rumor had it that the cutter was nearby.

So...anything I should watch out for THIS TIME I get the DPS installed?! :(
