• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Defcted

Well former fellow Spyder Ryders...I defected. As much as I tried to enjoy my Spyder and as much as I still think it has the potential to be a great ride, I had to give it up. I just could not trust the steering anymore and after the 12 hr ride from Jacksonville to Pensacola and the same back, I was unsure when the next failure was going to happen. The last time in the shop, they were sure they had it fixed and 3 miles down the road it went out again, had to get off the next ramp and limp back through heavy traffic. It seemed to be ok after the return trip to the shop, antoher steering box, another download, more adjustments, and yet another week without a ride. Never got a return call from BRP, never a letter, nothing...so I don't think I will ever be able to trust anything printed from the corporate affice anymore. I ended up trading it for a 2010 Thunderbird SE and really took it in the pants after the shop history was pulled up online. Love riding the TBird. Maybe several years down the road I'll consider antoher Spyder, but right now there seems to be a bit of a foul taste left over from the last experience. The one positive I have from the experience is getting to meet most everyone on this website and getting to ride with a few. Lamonster, keep up the good work!! I'll come back to visit on occasion and see what is coming down the pike from BRP. Ryde safe everybody!!!

Happy riding..

Hey Trypod,

Sorry to hear you had to give up your Spyder. It's a shame BRP was unable to to resolve the problems to your satisfaction. Sounds like you exhausted your options.

I wish you well with your new ride (sounds like a very nice bike). :doorag:

Ride safe!

Regards,
Stanley

Sorry to hear or your troubles and defection, but understand completely.
I too am afraid I'll be "taking it in the pants" if I decide to trade in my :spyder: for a newer model, assuming the bugs are worked out and there is an effective dealer/service network to provide support.

Until then, I'm going to try and continue to ryde, and bug the **** out of BRP and my service dept. while it is still under warranty.

Sounds like the next owner may be getting themselves a real deal. Especially if it never glitches again.

Enjoy the T-Bird.

Sorry you had to give up on the Spyder (as I did) but happy you got a Thunderbird (as I also did... except not the SE).

The best T-Bird site is http://www.thunderbird1600.com . I'm there as "ataDude", too.

Sorry you took it in the shorts, but :congrats: on the new TBird. If my knees would let me ride a 2 wheeler, I would be seriously looking into one of those.

or perhaps it will continue to 'glitch'........(makes it sound so minimal) and the next owner won't be so happy either:gaah:

Good luck Trypod, we've been down the DPS road also, and understand your reasons........

Anything is possible.... The T-Bird could glitch too but I didn't want to be negative....

Sorry to see you go... but understand when you've had enough.

I'm really thinking these DPS problems are more dealer/service tech problems-- as in many techs just don't know how to properly replace them.

Just did 300+ miles on my new DPS today and couldn't be happier.:2thumbs:

Sorry to see you leave the Spyder fold. But Look man, when you've had enough, you've had enough. The machine and BRP let you down. I say BRP because they just don't seem to be addressig the dealer network and customer support problem that still exists. They really do need to work harder on that, and I think (hope) that they are. I know some will disagree but that's OK; Everyone can think what they want. I'm sticking with them and hoping for better things. SO far my dealer is treating me well and my two Spyders are running very well.

The TBird is a beauty and I know you are going to enjoy it very much. Congrats on the new aquisition. Keep in touch, as I for one will be curious as to how the new ride treats you!

Sorry, should have posted pics of the TBird. here it is!! I will have fond memories of Trypod during the better times, and as mentioned before, the great folks I've met here and on the road!!:2thumbs:
