Dealer response

Hi

I am wondering what response the dealers have given regarding the vibration issues so many seem to be experiencing? I would like to know as I do a bit of long range riding and most of it would be in the "vibration zone, 68-72". This would be an issue for me and I am due to take delivery in two weeks

unless it is a heavy spyder dealer i feel they wouldn't know too much about it. what i would suggest is buy a belt tension -er and have the dealer install it for you at setup, but to be honest i have never felt it on my 14 rt.

You posted under the F3 section so that may indicate that is what you are getting. At any rate I have had minor vibration zones on all four of my spyders including my F3S and I simply had my dealer adjust the belt to move the vibration up to 95 miles per hour so I only experience it when I am passing crotch rockets. No I am really serious about moving the vibration up to a zone I seldom use...

I experienced the same vibration you described at the same speeds on my 2014 RT... took it to my local dealer.. they had it for a half day.. I went to pick it up the tech that test rode it said that my Spyder had less vibration than many other 2014's he test rode... he said the belt tension was perfect.... I ordered & installed a belt tensioner and the vibration is G-O-N-E.... what does that tell you ??

it tells me . . . . .

I did go to the dealer about this. They rode it and said it was "normal" because of the belt length. They could adjust the tension, as was previously stated, to move the speed at which it would vibrate. Since it was at the proper spec tension, I didn't want to adjust anything at the time. I'm at 1600+ miles now and I must say it is quite annoying and can't be good with all the harsh vibration. It is very harsh. For me, it's mainly when I'm at that speed and the engine is under load. If on cruise control at that speed, the vibration is still there but very minimal. As soon as the cruise control increases engine RPM to maintain speed, it's a quick harsh vibration until the road levels out again.

I wouldn't mind increasing the tension so that this happens at 90+ as BikerDoc did but is this a good thing to do? Would that put more stress and cause more damage to the transmission/output shaft than any harsh vibration would cause?

Hopefully Capt. Jim comes up with his belt tensioner soon.

I have never experienced belt vibration issues on :spyder2:'s. I always drive in the 68 - 72 zone on the highway (where 65 is posted).

I too have the harsh belt vibrations and the dealer's tech. checked the belt tension and placement. He said it was set exactly where the specs. said it
should be and he wouldn't adjust it (tighter or looser) to change the RPM level that I felt the vibration. He said if he move it, there is a chance it could cause damage to the other components.
I am new to spyders and none of my other belt driven bikes had this, so I can only share what the tech. said whether he is correct, I don't know.
Hope this helps.

I have right side heat issues also that I felt this Saturday, I will ask the tech. about that next time I'm there.

I'm not trying to downplay the issue for those who have the issue, but I would like to point out that you may get lucky and MAY NOT have the issue. I have a small band of what I would consider normal belt harmonics (mild vibration). I don't find it annoying, or unexpected, or a need to "do anything about".

Thevibration on mine starts above 50 and is very annoying . I will find a fix!
