There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. Dave & Teds Most Excellent Adventures 2013

Think we've figured out the best mobile posting platform

2013-03-24 14.51.22.jpgUsing our 7" Galaxy Tab with Dolphin Browser with a couple of add ons & tweaking the settings a bit, I think I got it to work where we can also upload pics inline as well also. YaY!!! If this continues to work, no need for updating hardware.IMG_20111023_134908.jpg

WoW, Teddy really misses ryding

So last night, after we got finished with a rousing game of fetch, I decided to work on the computer some and Teddy, when he gets tired, he usually retires to HIS spot on the couch for a nice nap. After a bit, I looked over to see how Teddy was doing, and it was rather dark in the living room, but I can still usually make out the outline of his body on his favorite pillow & throw. Only thing is, I didn't see that at all, just an empty space where he usually retires. Huh? Where was the little guy? I flicked on an overhead light, but to my surprise, no Teddy to be seen.

Earlier in the day, I had gone out to the garage & gathered many of his favorite carriers and doggy-beds that we have used over the years for our many road-trips, and brought them inside to use for inspiration in designing his new "Safety-Throne" upon his sled - see.... I know who's boss - lol

I brought in the 5 pictured above but there were still a couple I left out in the garage. Funny how much Spyder paraphanalia this lil pup has, but some are from trial and error and others are better for some trips, while others are better for other trips. This is the menagerie that I'm trying to scale down into one semi-permanant replacement (Safety-Throne) onto his Spyder, the best of all worlds so to speak, minus the removable part since we'll have the fuel-door seat mod and rarely have to lift the seat anymore.

Anyways, back to our little story. Even with the overhead lights on, I still couldn't see any signs of Teddy anywhere upon the couch. Hmmmmmm, this concerned me a bit, cause this is out of character for the little guy to be anywhere else at this time, and I didn't see or hear him moving around anywhere either. So, I started looking around thru the living room, thru the kitchen, the bathroom but no Teddy anywhere. The door to the spare bedroom which I'm temorarily using as a painting room was still solidly closed, and I knew he didn't care for the paint smell in there, so he definately wouldn't be in there. Hmmmmmm, so where was the little guy. Could he have went up stairs to bed already? Sure, but never has he done that without me leading the way first, so highly unlikely, but where????

Finally, being stumped, I gave in and called out his name. All of a sudden, I hear a rustling coming from his carriers, walk over, and sure enough, there the little guy was all nice and curled up, sleeping inside his most used carrier for long road trips. He looked up at me with groggy eyes, as if to say, "What you want dad, can't you see I'm trying to sleep here?" It warmed my heart but also made me sad at the same time. His vet has already told me she could tell that the lil guy was depressed from not being able to ryde, and this just kind of proved that point to me in a real way. I mean, he had all the comforts of home at his disposal, but he chose to go over and take a nap where he longs for most. I can relate buddy. If I coulda snuggled in there with him, I woulda. I miss it too..............................................

I still haven't heard back from the shop & I hate calling and bugging them all the time, but I'll definately be giving them a call as soon as they open today to try and find out whats going on now.

Seems to be a 'theme' among a lot of dealers.
Mine is the same way.
I brought the bike by their shop before thanksgiving to show them a popped stitch on the seat so we could get it warranty replaced.
After following up with them, I found out they finally got it and dropped the bike off this past Friday. Plus they also have to look into an ACS problem, which means parts to be ordered.
Countdown clock has begun ... lets see how long this takes.
Thank goodness I still have my F650 to ride while I wait.

Dave did they give a reason and and a possible date when it would be ready

I have my Spyder sat in the garage at home at the moment it's ready to ride but the present weather, Snow, Ice and day time temps of just above freezing is against it - and the forecast is, this may last until over this easter weekend for another 7-10 days so Frustration must be a universal word at the moment
And to think were are supposed to be in Spring now

This past weekend it was the coldest March weekend for 50yrs - So who have we all upset to get this revenge heaped upon us

We live about an hour south of the dealer, we got nothing but flurries last night, while they got 4 inches of snow where they are. He retorted when I asked when it would be ready, "What, we just got 4 inches, its not like you can ryde it right now anyways." To which I replied, "Where I live, we just got flurries and rain, if we had our Spyder we could ryde." "Oh, let me see what I can do, maybe later today or tomorrow." :banghead::banghead::pray::pray::pray::pray:

What is it Teddy has said to several others, in many threads, on this forum? "This too shall pass!"

Wish I were as understanding and as patient as he

Lack of Spyder Therapy & dealing with chronic pain has made for a BAD combination

It has dealt a great blow to my sanity and compromised my ability to rationalize. It wasn't until this morning in the shower that I was able to once again regain some form of acceptable mental composure that I realized, I was the one in the wrong. I was stewing all day yesterday, feeling like leftovers thrown on the back burner by the shop. Sorry, my psyche is so fractured right now, I'm having difficulty to even properly communicate my thoughts.

I keep forgetting, at first, the shop was only doing the work I knew I couldn't do, Warranty work replacing the head-gaskets to fix the oil leak & then replacing the thermostat to hopefully take care of the coolant leak and any and all Updates using BUDS.

After seeing how bad Teds Sled was leaking oil when I dropped it off, the Service Manager recommended that I go back to using the BRP oil instead of the brand that I had been using, even tho its rated within BRPs specs, being a Full synthetic might have had something to do with how bad it was leaking, he told me, so I consented, knowing also that In order for me to get the new access panel and the new longer filter & cap, they needed to do an oil change as well.

My last oil change, which I've always done myself, I couldn't do because of my hand/finger issues, so I had one of my brothers stop over a while back to give me a hand with it. In doing so, the shop informed me that he overtightened the drain plug going into the bottom of the case, in effect stripping it. I had replaced both drain plugs on my first oil change to the magnetic plug ends with socket plugs. They are made of solid steel & are much harder than the aluminum case, making it easy for him to over-torque & strip. So the shop then had to add a Heli-Coil to it & the shop manager suggested going back to the OEM plug, which I agreed.

Having to have all this done, I just told them to go ahead and do a full service on everything, to make sure everything else checked out ok.

When they went to drain the radiator, the drain plug broke & they had to order & replace the entire radiator.

Yesterday, when I called, I had been inside the plant all day, and had no clue that it was still snowing like crazy out. When I went to leave, I was a little shocked at the sight. Our temps are hovering right about 34-35, so none of it was sticking except to grassy areas. In a rational state of mind, all should have been diffused as soon as I walked out of the building. Teds Red Sled is still stripped, so even if the shop was finished with it, I couldn't ryde it home in these wet conditions. The shop manager knew this when we talked, and that's why he made the comment about having 4 inches of snow there & I couldn't ryde it like it is. My mind frame aint right, or I would have realized that then, and not just fixate on the fact that he told me it should have been done on Fri or Sat & here it was on Monday & they hadn't even gotten to the fix he said he was going to do 3 days ago.

I'm just so frustrated, cause I know, even when we do get Teds Stripped Sled back, with my hand the way it is, its going to take some time to get everything else, all the new and old mods, along with the rest of the body all put back together again. Its almost April, I'm beginning to feel panicky......................................................................................

Project -- Small Steps

Take a deep breath, give Teddy a cuddle and remember any project is done one step at a time.

:agree: Dave and Teddy ... Roger is right, even the most daunting tasks are doable, just take one step at a time. Take a few deep breaths and don't rush ... even with your compromised arm, you will get it all done and done right -- I'm confident of that.

Best Regards .... Ann

A (mostly) good news update

Figured it best to put my anxiety at ease & forget about waiting for the shop to call me & that I'd start calling them daily to get status updates on what (if anything) is going on with Teds Red Sled. Was told that they got the Heli-Coil installed & replaced the OEM drain plug, but that it still showed signs of a leak at the drain, so he said he'd have to stop by somewhere after work to pick up a different size crush washer & that should hopefully correct the issue:sour: When I further inquired about when I might be able to pick it up, was told that they should hopefully get the plug issue resolved tomorrow & if everything else checked out. . . , . . possibly tomorrow. To which I almost squealed like a little school girl at Christmas time  Tho, I'm truly trying to remain positive, I have a feeling this isn't the end of this saga

On a more positive front, called PitBull PowerSports and they were already busy working on the Fuel- Door mod on Teddy's New (to us) RT Limited seat and that if all buttons up well, it should ship out tomorrow

I'm in a good mood today, its clear & dry out, praying the shop calls with good news

I started working on Teddy's "Safety Throne" last night. I had brought in a bunch of his carriers so that I could get measurements from them to work with, but without actually having his sled at home, right now, its all just ball-parking so to speak. But at least now, I'm getting better visual feedback of how I can bring it all together and what may or may not be functional or practical. I definately need to stop by Lowes and get some more different fittings than just the T & 90 degree elbows, hopefully they have some that go at 45 degree elbows & would be great to find a fitting that's like a T, but with an additional opening heading vertical.

TBC...... work work work

Hang in there, and Dave... Better to have everything working on the sled and solid before you come out to Spyderfest. I really don't think you're the only one biting nails and being a bit antsy about things. :D:eek::eek:
