There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. Dave & Teds Most Excellent Adventures 2013

Continuing the thought process- pics are worth a thousand words right ..............

Goals:

Goal is simple.
A semi-affixed solution providing protection from the elements (sun, rain, cold, heat) while also allowing Teddy a safe & secure environment to enjoy his ryde along with me. This includes him being able to see & BE SEEN by his many fans along the way.

Using one of his many doggy-beds with a pad for the base of the foundation. In summer, we have modular Ice-Packs that can be inserted under his pad, providing some relief from the stifling heat, but having a sun-canopy is paramount to help this be effective, especially for a black dog. Likewise in winter, we can insert his electric heating-pad under his bed-pad to help provide a warming heat source.

Also need storage for all his 'stuff' that we have to take along with us, especially on long road trips. I can probably figure out a way to incorporate pockets into the red vinyl fabric that will be used to create the side walls of the base, just like how many of his regular carriers use.

OK, this is a pictorial (sort-of) of what we're working with. Stock passenger seat area, add doggy-bed as the base, insert Teddy. The carrier with the open door & Teddy giving you the 'Stink Eye' is cause he absolutely hates being confined inside it, so that's why I'm trying to come up with something that is open most of the time, but can be inclosed while allowing him to still see out when needed. The last pic shows another of his carriers with the side pockets on it, that we use regularly and find valuable for ease of access to things like his lead, ball, treats etc........

We now interrupt our regularly scheduled progaming for this important update

Ok, so yesterday I went and had the EMG (nerve test) done on my hand and forearm. Not that bad, til the doctor got to the needle part of the test & I had to warn him that I'm a wuss when it comes to needles and have a history of passing out  But I made it thru with just mild discomfort and no sleeping

Seems I do show signs of an elbow injury on my right arm, as the signal from the upper part of the arm to the hand makes it there fine, just slower than my left side. My wrist however shows definate signs of Carpal Tunnal to all three the thumb, index & middle fingers on my right hand. He didn't really understand why I'm only having issues with just my index finger, as all three tested pretty much the same, poorly.

He explained that the EMG test ONLY tests the nerves and nothing else like the bones, tendons etc.... and that I could still possibly have another issue concerning another part of my anatomy............... JOY :( So now I wait to see the Hand Specialist again next Wednesday to see what he recommends doing next & how to proceed.

My last Ocupational Therapy session was on Tuesday & the therapist & I both agreed continuing was futile so that would be it til the Specialist can get a handle on whats going on. I hate complaining and whining and I know alot of ppl have life much worse than I, but living like this on a daily basis is rather miserable. Granted, better than being dead, just frustrating more than anything.

We now return you to your regularly scheduled programming..............

Oh yeah, PS.........................
No call from the shop and still no sled in the garage  way to kick a man when he's down :banghead:

Ok, here's a very crude napkin rendering of the beginning of what's floating around in my nog'n
This is just the beginning of my thought process. Basically replacing the Utopia with another stock backrest and then replacing the multitude of Teddy's portable carriers with a 'built in' unit using the copper tubing mounted to the rear passenger area using Ram Ball Mounts. This much pictured I have pretty well figured out. The problem that I'm having with my thought process is continuing this upward to support either the Sun-Canopy we are currently using, or coming up with a new one. Then along with that challenge, I'd like to somehow devise a way, that when we get caught in bad weather, that I could somehow affix something to the open areas to in effect, close them off and protect Teddy from the elements, be it cold or rain. I'm thinking of possibly using either some form of clear Vinyl or maybe even a sturdy plexiglass surround that could be removable, so he could have it open when its nice and warm, but closed off, yet still visible when in bad conditions. I know I'm reaching here, but if I don't try I'll never know. I actually had bought a large sheet of plexiglass for this purpose, but I ended up using it on Louis cage, to help with all the valcano dust going everywhere everytime the lil furball would take a bath. But I can always get another sheet, but I'm still far from needing it at this point. Sooooooooo.............. any ideas out there?????

Having just worked on Picklehead's RT with the Diamond R arm rests I think they would be a good foundation for building a Teddy Deluxe Pad. The arm rests are solidly mounted under the seat. Take the padding off and use the flat metal to design the bottom bucket and also the sun roof.

That reminded me of the line of the song from the misical Oklahoma: "Isinglass curtains that roll right down whenever there's a change in the weather".

It is a form of mica that used to be used for windows/roll down blinds in horse drawn carriages, way back when.

I would like to know about the clippers you got for doing Teddy haircut.

Small detour

Dave,

My wife and I really enjoy your posts and follow your adventures with anticipation. Today she said to me "how come you don't put some ice packs under the seat for me when it gets hot like Dave does for Teddy?". I said "I don't do that because you are frigid enough as it is."

Was that wrong? :roflblack:

Best be careful

These are Andis ProClip AG2 2 speed with detachable blade system & I also got an additional blade made by Oster that's a 3/8" A5 replacement blade, that way I don't have to worry about seperate attachments. Worked like a hot knife thru butter, so much easier for both of us.

Thanks for the suggestion, but just not in the cards

No doubt, those are sweet & your probably correct, they'd make for a great foundation. But at a cost of over $300 thats just not in the budget, as there really isn't a budget for doing this & I have to try n dream this up as cheap as possible using as many spare parts that we've got laying around here to make this work. Heck, the shop still has the Sled & it makes me nautious to think of how much that bill is gonna be :barf: do appreciate the suggestion tho

I would reconsider the use of Copper Tubing...

Copper is a high theft item. It is also not a structural material, as it is a "soft" metal, and will not hold its form if there is a accident. :yikes:

Correct you are, but I think it'll work for our limited application

Considering we're using canvass & nylon carriers now & for the past 3 years, I'm thinking this should be an improvement over that, if I can get it all figured out & functional

Teddy's done with his winter coat

Anyone have a guess on how much his coat that was removed weighs, either in grams or ounces?
