Dave & Teddy's Most Excellent Adventures 2012

It would seem, Teds Red Sled has a slow leak in the rear tire - - - or something???

Before heading out to SITA last week, I checked the air pressure in all three tires and topped them all off. At the closing cerimonies, it was brought to my attention that the rear tire looked low so I checked before heading out on our return trip, and sure enough, it was down about 6 psi, so I topped it off once again. After the best visual I could manage by myself (Teddy doesn't like to get his paws dirty & makes me do all the work on his Red Sled:roflblack:) I couldn't find any visible evidence of a possible cause for a leak, nor did I hear any hissing:dontknow:

Yesterday tho, while here at work, I had a total of 4 different ppl (that I don't even know) come up to tell me that the rear tire on the Spyder was flat:shocked: Most don't understand that its NOT a bike tire, nor a car tire, but BRPs own hybrid version of a tyre :lecturef_smilie::dontknow: Anyways, I took a quick break and went out to check, and sure enough, it was a couple psi low once again, but no where near :shocked:flat:shocked: Seems odd tho that I keep losing a couple psi every few days:dontknow: I forgot when I had the rear replaced at 23K miles to have them put the RideOn in it:lecturef_smilie: You live and you learn. We've got over 32K miles now, and its time for a new set up front, so I guess I'll have them check the rear while there at it:rolleyes:

When I suspect a leak and the cause is not obvious, I'll spray the tread and valve stem area with Windex to see if there are bubbles indicating the source of the leak.

What was I thinking??? OH WAIT!!! That's right, I wasn't ..................

:duh: So Teddy and I went over to my best friends house the other evening to help cheer up his 9 year old daughter who just went through her first family funeral with the loss of her Great Grandma "Dutch" so I knew she needed some cheering up and Teddy & I were happy to help

When we arrived she was talking with her friend that lives across the street (also 9 yo lil girl) and when I asked what she'd like to do, she said "Lets play catch!"

"OK, fun, lets go, tag..... Your It!!!" Sometimes I'm just darn right stupid:duh: So there Teddy and I are running around the yards like crazy for an hour and a half straight:trike: trying to keep up with 2 9 yo lil girls :yes: and by golley, we did it :yes:

nojokeYeah, well now its today and I feel like I've ridden a thousand miles on horseback :yikes: and my legs are so sore, I can't even walk straight:shocked::lecturef_smilie:

Did 1800 miles on Teds Red Sled last week when we went to SITA and back, I was happy as a clam. Put me running around with a couple of kids:lecturef_smilie: & its a whole other story:banghead::cus::roflblack:

;)But you know what, she was happy so I'd do it all over again in a heart beat:yes::thumbup:

Too funny NOT to share *** Winger with RT Envy looses his ................

So I got off work yesterday and after a long 12 hour shift I'm heading home on the Interstate happily minding my own business while cruising down the highway on Teds Red Sled (sans Ted)

I come to a merge and out pops a beautiful fully dressed GoldWing with a rider (I'm guessing) close in age to me (41) riding with his ball-cap turned backwards. He sees me up ahead of him, so he quickly negotiates traffic and he gets right behind me in the fast lane and I can see him in my mirrors checking Teds Red Sled out like he was seeing a Spyder for the very first time. Then, as the traffic congestion subsides, he gets over and proceeds to match my speed, so he can further check out Teds Red Sled. He actually does this on both sides, I'm assuming so he can get the full-around view and I just smile and wave to him as he continues his observations. Then he decides that he's seen enough, and starts to speed ahead of me, which I was just fine with.

I'm guessing he was a little impressed with what he saw, cause they say the highest form of flattery is imitation, right? Well, the next thing I see is him removing his backwards ball-cap and he decides to put it on straight, just like mine. When I ryde local, I just usually wear my ball cap forward and I'm guessing he thought he could do the same, as his Wing did have a nice sized shield on it. Seeing as the RTs have the adjustable shield, I use it all the time, and it buffets the wind well enough that I don't have any issues (except maybe passing semis) with my ball-cap blowing off.

Not even 30 seconds after the Winger turned his hat forward, you guessed it, off it goes flying down the highway:yikes::roflblack::lecturef_smilie: and as I watched this happen, I got that sinking feeling in the pit of my stomach that I was about to witness something that I didn't really wanna see:yikes: As soon as his ball-cap left his head, he lunges after it and being on two wheels, the entire bike mimics his movement and if there were a car in the lane next to him, he would have hit it broadside:yikes: Luckily for him, there wasn't and he was skillfull enough to be able to recover without laying his bike down at 70mph in the middle of the freeway:pray: and thats not something I want to see:lecturef_smilie:

Now embarrassed as one could be (I'm assuming here:opps:) he throws up both his hands in a motion I'm sure was meant for me, as if to say "Oh well!" and then he quickly rolls on the throttle and takes the next exit off the highway:rolleyes:

Guess a Wing (as most say) is a very reliable bike, and after 30 yrs in production, it damn well better be, wouldn't you think:dontknow:

:yes:But ........... it aint no Spyder ;);)

Guess'n Crazy is Good

At 3am this morning, I'm walking thru the turn-styles here at work when a co-worker that's heading the opposite direction stops me. He points to Teds Red Sled, and asks
"Ok man, I gotta know, what the heck is that thing on the back?" "What, the canopy?" I ask.
"I guess, whatever that red thing is sticking up back there."
"Yup, that's a sun canopy I made for my dog, he rydes every day, and since he's black, he over heats real quickly in direct sunlight, so I had to make something to give him shade while we ryde."
As I tell the man this, I hold up my cell phone with a pic of Teddy in his Doggles on the back of the Spyder to demonstrate what I'm telling him. He looks at it and says,
"I never would have guessed that in a million years. Wouldn't even believe you if you had just told me, but there he is in the picture, WOW!"
He said in a somewhat stunned tone of voice.
"Thats Crazy, man!" as he shook his head and kept on walking to the parking lot.

Would like some opinions / suggestions / ideas about colors and schemes

OK, I'll be the 1st to admit I suck at fashion and am for the most part, clueless about mixing, matching and contrasting colors and that kinda thing:dontknow: So with all that said, I'm trying to figure out what would look best and be the most visible for Teddy. Y'all know he's a little black dog with a red mowhawk and tail. The red contrasts well against his jet black fur, I think,

right? So looking at the pic above, we've got red on black with a little white thrown in, and that's been our general color scheme since we've gotten "Teds Red Sled".

But when I look back at previous pics, it would seem (to me at least) that his BLUE doggles show up even better than his RED ones, as they seem to get lost in the sea of RED. So what do y'all think looks better for :doorag:The Tedster:doorag: :hun:

I personally think the BLUE shows up better and is more visible, but it doesn't match:yikes: and we've had a few ppl in the past that commented (while he was wearing his BLUE doggles) that it was too bad we couldn't find RED ones so that he could match his MowHawk and :spyder2:

So, what do y'all think? :helpsmilie::dontknow::chat:Besides I'm Crazy, as that is already a well established fact :roflblack::roflblack::roflblack:

Yoo Rock!

Dave, I got to tell you, these daily posts of yours are addictive, but I can't stop reading them, so keep them coming. Also, now that my daughter is back home, I was stupid enough to show her the pictures of Teddy. Guess whose dog is braided now? Good thing she didn’t decide to give her a haircut and color it on top. My wife got a kick out of it, but of course nobody thought of taking a picture. Although, I am sure my daughter would love to repeat the process. She once dressed one of our dogs in her dolls dresses and the other dog had my tie on. I am pretty sure there is a picture of that somewhere.

White would show up nicely!

I gotta say, I do think blue stands out more because it is so far off the charts. But red is the color. You guys go good together as is. But, only change I would make...Ever think about getting yourself a red mohawk? Someone with some cut and paste software can come up with something so we can see Dave with a red mohawk. How cool would that be?

Thanks, & Teddy's always glad to 'Spread the Joy'. Now you know you can't post a teaser like this without showing pics:lecturef_smilie: Teddy said he wants to see the pics:shocked: So may I suggest letting your daughter do it again, and this time, have that camera ready:thumbup:

White would show up nicely!

I was thinking the same thing. You might be able to add some red accents to the white.

A white pair plus red accents if you can find them!:2thumbs:
Ok guys, it looks like white with RED accents is the choice for Teddy's Doggles, and I think I have just the thing in mind;) I have an older pair of light blue Doggles that have faded over the past couple of years, so we haven't been using them. I'm thinking I could probably find some white nail polish and go over the rims with it, and then take some red nail polish to add some 'accent flames' to the sides..... thoughts:dontknow:

:yikes:REALLY???:yikes:
I grew up a redhead, or as my Mom would say, 'Strawberry Blond' and I hated life as a kid cause of it, always getting teased, blah blah blah..... you know, as a kid, you just wanna fit in:chat: and I most certainly didn't:lecturef_smilie: But as we grow older, we seek out our individuality and I came to like being a redhead:p But now as I age, I'm not sure what color my hair is:lecturef_smilie: I asked my buddy yesterday, and he just looked at my hair for about a minute, struggling to figure out what the closest color would be, and he finally gave up:gaah:

Just for laughs last night, I tried a 'Fo-Hawk' in the mirror:shocked: but right now, I have my hair cut to short to even pull that off:banghead: So, thanks for the suggestion, but I think I'll keep it as is, since no one would ever really see it anyways, as I always wear a ball-cap or helmet while ryding:doorag:

Oh yeah, here's a couple pics of Teddy's fans that we met on the street while out for a walk last summer:thumbup: and on a ryde.

Hmmmmm....... No thoughts about yesterdays post, wonder if thats good or bad?

:clap:Billups (fellow coworker with a White LMTD Spyder) parked in my usual spot this morning:lecturef_smilie: so I parked next to him. There were a couple of guys out for a smoke standing right behind the fence where I parked, and as soon as I dismounted Teds Red Sled, I got that all to familiar question now,"Dude, whats the red thing on the back?":dontknow: I had to laugh:roflblack: And I went through explaining all about Teddy and him needing protection from the sun as he rydes every day, and I made my way thru the gate and proceeded to show them his pic on my cell phone:doorag: & get those familiar "WTF!!!:yikes: That's the craziest thing I ever saw!":roflblack: And another co-worker being nosey and overhearing us, comes over and she says to me, "C'mon now, let me see your baby." To which I turn the phone so she can see too, and she was just all 'googlie' at the site of Teddy sport'n his doggles on his Red Sled:yes:

Work is the only place I don't take Teddy, so most here have no clue about him, tho as time goes by, more and more are getting clued in:clap: Tho I'm not sure if that's a good thing or a bad thing, as yesterday, my boss asked, "Hey, you think I can borrow Teddy for a day so I can go 'Cougar' hunt'n?" (pick up chicks) :yikes::roflblack::roflblack::roflblack: My short answer....... "No Way In Hell!"nojoke:roflblack::roflblack::roflblack:
