Dave & Teddy's Most Excellent Adventures 2012

I guess one measure of being wise, is if we listen and learn from those that have gone before us, putting aside ones own ego and self rightious desires for that which is truly BEST in the long run. But what about Living In The Moment and taking advantage of a limited oportunity while one has it? None of us are guaranteed to wake up tomorrow, right? I propose the aformentioned questions out of a true desire to understand the balance between living ones life to the fullest and moderation. I have come to the conclusion, that no matter how GOOD or BAD you think your life is, little in it matters, if you don't have your health.

Wow, Dave! When "yur" not "mess'n" around with words and all kinds of crazy smilie icons you can really write! In all seriousness I found this post truly inspiring and relevant. I'm going to hang it up in my office at work with other inspirational quotes I like. Thank you. - Jim

WELL SAID Dave and Scotty.

King Solomon asked for one thing above all else. Wisdom. The ability to know balance. Funny that he didn't ask for wealth or health! Not sure why. But he is known for centuries are being the most wise man of all. We also know he lived a great life and was very wealthy. My take-away from that is to pray for wisdom for me, and for others I come in contact with, like doctors. And Dave, that my friend has been my prayer for you.

Its like 500 of your closest friends are invited to the Party while we're stuck home

Every fiber of my being:cus::cus::cus: damnit! Im doing the right thing, I know that, but as more often is the case, the right thing is not the easiest to do, and I lay here with a downtrodden heart. Good news, my surgeon removed the drain tube from my incission today & said its looking well & is progressing as it should. Keep taking the antibiotics & he'll see me again in a week. I can start PT again at the end of the week. He originally had me scheduled to return to work May 1st, but said that has changed with the second surgery, so now its looking more like May 10th. On a positive note, when Teddy & I were leaving his office, the entire front desk staff of the Sports Complex was going GaGa over Teddy and we oblidged their requests for pics. As I explained Teddys Emotional Support & Therapy Dog status, the Manager asked if we wouldn't mind making an appearance at their kids summer camp. We accepted, with the understanding that it would have to wait for a bit, while my back continues the healing process, which she totally understood and agreed. The lil guy has his first big "Gig" lined up, like his head wasn't BIG enough as it was:roflblack:

Dave, sorry that you and Teddy can't make it to Spyderfest this year but keep an eye out for all the videos and pictures that will be posted.:2thumbs: It just won't be the same without the two of you!:sour:

While much of the Spyder World is enjoy'n SpyderFest, Ted had me out mod'n his sled

Here's a few before & after shots of the RT Dash Bezel mod going from stock black to matching Viper Red Clear Coat

Also took out the center handle bar cap & added our Verizon Wireless Gizmo Holder to the center of the bars :2thumbs:

I'm like'n the mods pretty well, debating on if I should do the Speaker Grills next to add more red to the black swath thats there now:dontknow:

Dave, glad you're making good progress. We certainly miss you, but know you've made the best choice to allow yourself to heal.

God bless you my friend.

:agree: Couldn't have possibly said it better. It warms my heart to see you getting back to some of your normal routine again. I imagine that was pretty pleasing to you, too. Take care, my friend.

Got a call this morning from UKGene who's in Cuba right now enjoy'n SpyderFest

Was good to talk with him. Was kinda like talking with a kid on Christmas morning. You could hear the :yes:EXCITEMENT:yes: in his voice and the :clap:JOY:clap: of meeting so many of the SpyderLovers community that we all have come to know here, virtually on the forum:firstplace: I could tell the experience is a little overwhelming, as it never stops while your there:joke::coffee::joke: GOOD TIMES with GREAT PEOPLE :joke::yes:

On the one episode, "Lacrusious" or something like that, where Picard is assemilated, in TNG, that's how I'm feel'n right now with this tube coming out of my back. Any move I make and its uncomfortable, mind you, tollerable, but I hate moving right now. Its not sutured in so I have to be extra careful to not accidently pull it out. And have to be really careful since Teddy thinks he's attached to my hip lately, he moves and pulls on the tube & I'm freak'n :cus::mad: But this too shall pass:pray:View attachment 44242View attachment 44243

Today has been a roller coaster of an emotional day for Teddy and I

It started out with a little sadness about missing all the fun and fellowship of SpyderFest. But then, I saw Lamonts thread with all the great pics and captions, and that warmed my heart to see so many of our fellow SpyderLovers enjoying all the fun that SpyderFest has to offer. I keep reminding myself, that I'm doing whats best for my health right now, and that even tho we're missing out on SpyderFest, we still have Durango and hopefully SITA to look forward to and having that hope, helps alot.

I've been feeling 100% better, no drainage from the incission and no pain, but still no (to little) BLTs and still taking it easy in general. Today was sunny with a high right about 60 degrees, and since I was feeling really good right now, I geared up the Tedster and figured we'd go and hit the twisties and see how well I could handle them, since its been a few months for us to enjoy them. Mind you, I don't think I ryde Teds Red Sled in the twisties like the majority of owners out there, I mean, I really get into it, rather agressively and love every minute of it. So much so, my face is still hurting from all the smiling, Good Times!

After our nice spirited ryde, I decided to stop by Home Depot to pick up a couple more cans of red spray paint so I can do the speaker grills on Teds Red Sled so they match the now red dash bezel. Being mobbed at every stop is something that Teddy and I have become accustomed to, no since in fighting it when you own a Spyder, less alone a Spyder Ryding Pooch with a matching mowhawk and Doggles. We've had many experiences and encounters over our past 2 years of Spyder ryding, but nothing like the one we had tonight. Tonights encounter at Home Depot was a first for us, a very emotional encounter to say the least.

Continuing our Emotional encounter at Home Depot today

I took this vid clip of The Tedster ryde'n his sled thru the park last summer, thought I'd share it here so you can see how he usually rydes, standing tall & hanging out for all the world to enjoy. This ISN'T something that I've trained him to do, just him doing what comes natural for him. Some times, he sits in his carrier, others he's standing & demanding attention and yeah, he knows he's a star and acts the part. Mind you, he's harnessed in & secure, but with enough freedom to stand up and move around about a foot, but he can't go flying off.

On our trip to Home Depot, Teddy was standing and posing for most the ryde, so just about every car around us had their camera phones out and snapping pics. Every stop, the car next to us would wind down the window and give us the thumbs up with a BIG Grin upon their faces. One car with an older couple followed right behind us for a few miles and followed us into the parking lot of Home Depot. Once in the parking lot, and we parked in a spot, they pulled right up behind us and parked right there and the older gentleman got out and came to talk with us. I didn't think much of it at first, as this happens all the time. I was a little curious why only he got out, and the lady stayed in the car, as women are usually more open to approaching us than men are. I'm guessing the man was in his late 60's along with his female passenger. He had a BIG Smile on his face as he approached but I noticed that his cheeks were wet & his eyes were cloudy. When he began to talk, he had a tremble in his voice that was very noticable, almost making his words unintelligible. Upon hearing this, it clicked with me that the man had recently been crying, hence the wet face and very shaky voice. This immediately brought concern to me and I really tried my best to understand what the man was trying to say. After a couple starts and restarts, and taking a few deep breaths, he got his voice back and I began to understand (for the most part) what he was trying to say to me.

Come to find out, he and his lovely wife were both very hard of hearing, making speach a little challenging and with advancing age, his wifes cataracts made it very hard for her to see clearly. He proceeded to tell me the story of how they were highschool sweethearts and had been married now for almost 50 years. When they were both in their 20's, he and his wife would ryde his Harley with their black chihuahua ryding right there with them. They shared that experience for around 12 years, but once their Rocky (pet chihuahua) got to where he couldn't handle ryding anymore, they decided to give up ryding because it just wasn't the same without there baby along with them for the ryde. So they gave up ryding and never went back to it, and about a year later, they lost their wonderful Rocky. They also never got another dog, just wouldn't be the same he told me.

He continued, that when he saw Teddy ryding around on the byke, it brought back all those wonderful memories and even tho his wife couldn't clearly make Teddy out, her husband was describing all that he was seeing while they were following behind us. He said thats when both, his wife and him busted out in tears in remembering those wonderful memories once again. I have to tell you, my eyes too were pretty wet at this point. All along the time he's telling me his story, he's petting & carressing Teddy with loving fondness. You could just see the joy and love in this mans eyes.

He then asked if he could ask a favor of me, to which I said of course. He told me that his wife also had mobility issues, making it difficult, but not impossible, to get in and out of the car and if I wouldn't mind taking Teddy over to her so she could see him up close, and to pet the little guy. My heart was about to explode at this point. (:cus: tears are once again wetting my eyes as I type this, remembering it so vividly) So yeah, I said, sure, not a problem. I got Teddy untethered from the Spyder and carried him back to the lady in the car. The gentleman opened the car door, and said, Margie, here's the little dog I was telling you about, a lot like Rocky and ryding on a new fangled space looking byke. (I laughed out loud at that) The lady didn't really speak, but she didn't need to. The look in her eyes, just like his, said all she needed to say. She started petting Teddy and when Teddy started licking her cheek, tears began flowing. I wasn't sure how Teddy would react, cause he's not used to being in such situations, but he just continued to lick her til I made him stop. After about 5 minutes of her smiling the biggest smile I think I've ever seen, she commented, "He's so soft, so friendly, thank you" Her husband told her it was time for us to go and he said it was ok to take Teddy back. He then thanked us both and told us, "You will never know the joy that the two of you have brought us today. I just hope you have as many good memories from your ryding adventures as we have, Thank You." I stuck out my hand to shake his and say good bye, but he just kinda grabbed me and gave me a BIG OLE BEAR HUG, a nod of the head, and they were once again on their way.

I mean, what more can I say, :bowdown:WE ARE TRULY BLESSED!
