Dave & Teddy's Most Excellent Adventures 2012

For those of you that are Sci-Fi/Trek fans, I'm closer to being a Borg than I like

On the one episode, "Lacrusious" or something like that, where Picard is assemilated, in TNG, that's how I'm feel'n right now with this tube coming out of my back. Any move I make and its uncomfortable, mind you, tollerable, but I hate moving right now. Its not sutured in so I have to be extra careful to not accidently pull it out. And have to be really careful since Teddy thinks he's attached to my hip lately, he moves and pulls on the tube & I'm freak'n :cus::mad: But this too shall pass:pray:IMG_20120409_154519-1.jpgIMG_20120409_154539-1.jpg

Shhhhh, its a dirty little secret, but Teddy "does" own a car, he just doesn't know

Teddy has an '01 Cougar, but until 2 weeks ago, it hadn't been driven in almost a year. Sat so long, the battery died & I didn't care, cause we ryde Teds Red Sled on a daily basis. Well, 2 weeks ago, my best (human) friend thats been help'n Teddy to take care of me, his transmission went out on his SUV. I told him if he got a battery for the Cougar, we could see if we could get it running, & if we did, he had a car to use while his got repaired. After sitting for almost a year, I had no clue if it would run, but once we put anew battery in, and got the rear left side parking brake unfrozen from the drum, all has been well since. After he got his SUV back, now he has a hood problem that won't latch, so I told him to just keep the Cougar til he gets his SUV up & running right, cause we don't need it as long as we got Teds Red Sled:yes: I had actually planned on selling the Cougar once Winter was over cause we didn't need it once. Tho, since i runs so well, we may just keep it for "Emergency" situations  Still not sure if I should try this long of a trip, even in a car, right now tho, but I'm leaning that way if my surgeon removes my tube on Monday :dontknow: We'll see:pray:

I wouldn't push it, Dave. As much as we all want to see you guys, we'd certainly rather see you healed and healthy and ready for more events in the future. I don't think the pressure on the wound and the poor circulation from being pressed into the seat on a road trip would be beneficial. I'm an old tough guy, who has tested the waters more times than I should admit, but the docs have finally pounded it into my head that you can't push your limits without repercussions. Wait until the wound heals over completely (no scab, no pain, no heat, no itching) before you do anything lengthy or extreme. JMHO

More often than not, the words of Wisdom are NOT what we want to hear

I guess one measure of being wise, is if we listen and learn from those that have gone before us, putting aside ones own ego and self rightious desires for that which is truly BEST in the long run. But what about Living In The Moment and taking advantage of a limited oportunity while one has it? None of us are guaranteed to wake up tomorrow, right? I propose the aformentioned questions out of a true desire to understand the balance between living ones life to the fullest and moderation. I have come to the conclusion, that no matter how GOOD or BAD you think your life is, little in it matters, if you don't have your health. It would seem, it is one of "THOSE" introspective nights for me.

If you find the answers to those questions, you'll be wiser than all of us put together. I have lived both ways, and thanks to the grace of God and the skill of the doctors I am still able to reflect on my path through life. When I was young, I lived for the moment and thought little of the future. After reaching half-a-century, and getting a second lease on life after a medical miracle, I have found it best to take the slow and safe route. I kinda like being here, and I want to stick around a while. Your appoach may be different, but consider this. If you screw up your back again, or get another infection...or MRSA or gangrene, will you still think a weekend of visiting your friends was worth it? Surgery is no fun, and we don't want you to have to bear it again. We are your adopted family, and we care about you. If you have to ponder something, think of that...and smile.

I did

and, thank you, I did ;)

YOU KNOW WE WOULD LOVE TO HAVE YOU DOWN HERE!!!!!! BUT don't do anything to jepordise your health. Having a BAD BACK for the rest of your life isn't worth the trip here. We all will miss you if you get to the point where you can't even ryde Teddys red sled!!! You can come down anytime. All the Mogang will be here and Cowtown isn't going anywhere. Sooo don't take any chances. :dontknow: Give Teddy a big hug for me. And a happy birthday wish too.
