Corbin Seats Feedback

I had an issue with the backrest and the armrests on my Corbin seat. (RT-S). The armrests were a bit "wobbly" and not completely secure. This issue had been present since installation. I just hadn't had time to address.

As for the backrest, the housing that holds the stem on the backrest had become very loose. I'm suspect that my sister, who is quite hefty and hopefully will never read this thread, attempted to get onto the passenger seat utilizing the rider backrest for support. Bottom line is that Corbin office in Ormand Beach, Florida, diagnosed the problem and has offered to replace the entire seat to remedy this issue. (apparently the housing is inside the seat).

I for one am elated and would recommend Corbin products to anyone out there in "cyber land" that is contemplating purchasing a motorcycle/spyder seat. With this kind of professionalism you won't go wrong.

PS: They will even give me a "lamonster" cut which I didn't have on my present one.

Glad Corbin is taking care of your problem.......I purchased a Corbin seat with backrest.....they moved the seat up 2 inches...but not the backrest.....my husband, hotglue is going to remake it to fit 2 inches forward.....this is not a slam on Corbin...I love my Corbin and especially the fuel door...I have a 2009 SE5......the seat is perfect....

That's a great report :2thumbs: Glad to hear it.
We love our Corbins (on both the RS & RT) and had the passenger arm rests installed not long ago.
They make good stuff! :firstplace:

Just curious.....
How many miles have you ridden on the corbin.

When I first got my 08 RS/GS I installed the Corbin and found the Corbin extremely butt/hard on long rides. Around town thery were great. Wonder if they have changed their foam fomula?

I have about 3500 miles on my Corbin. I do love the seat and they still use a pretty firm foam. As you said, very comfortable and form fitting. But after 4-5 hours (or 8 as I did a few weeks ago) of rYding there is some sore butt, but that is probably gonna happen with any seat considering my size and ailments LOL. I picked up a gel sheepskin just to toss on when the going gets tough. Not because the Corbin is uncomfortable, it is very comfy,,, but just to have new pressure points after several hours and switch it up periodically for a different feel. Still MUCH better for me than the factory RT seat.

My wife's passenger area is very comfy for her. She made the 8 hours with no issues at all. She has the arm rests too, and just rydes along, happily surveying the surroundings…!

:agree: with Chris. I too had a problem with loose arm rests and Corbin figured out the problem and fixed it. Now they are very solid and my wife loves them. Corbin builds a quality product and stands behind it 100%.

Forrest for me it's been about 12,000 miles. Although I've been very pleased with my seat, the new one that Corbin is sending will have the "Lamonster Cut".

Mike, I just wanted to let you know that I told Sergio how much you were pleased with his service and the handling of your situation. A big smile came on his face. Apparently MY installation tech way back when didn't know s......from shinola in installation of Corbin seats and armrests. That was certainly taken care of yesterday. Cindy can't believe the difference.

Look forward to seeing Sis and you.

Well.... you guys have talked me into it. After a 4 hour ride yesterday my butt was burning from the too soft stock seat. I can ride for about an hour before I feel it's time to get off and walk around to feel normal again. This was the same issue I had on the stock seat on my previous ride, a HD Ultra Classic. That seat was good for about a half hour before it was time to get off. Cowtown USA is giving me a great price for a Corbin so hopefully I'll be riding in better comfort soon. :2thumbs: Guess I'll have a Utopia backrest for sale since it won't work with the Corbin. I really liked the Utopia backrest but the stock seat has to go.

Corbin Seat

I LOVE my Corbin seat:yes:. Getting it custom-made at the factory provided a good excuse for a cross-country trip to CA.:2thumbs: The seat with its modified Lamonster cut was fully broke-in by the time I got back to Ohio.:D

Forrest: I have over 35,000 miles on two Corbin seats. 20K on the first :spyder2: and 17K on the second :spyder2:. They never went soft--but I like the support they give my bottom and back.

I have the Corbin seats with dual back rests and love them a lot. I also had a problem with the driver back rest coming loose. My solution was simply to put some lock tite on it and it has been solid ever since.

This is an update on my Corbin seat and what they did for me. My original post was June 29, 2011, in which Corbin agreed to replace my seat. They did this because my backrest which sits into the seat had become damaged.

Today, July 15th, a little over two weeks, my new seat came in and was installed at the Ormand Beach office free of charge. In fact Sergio threw in a bottle of saddle conditioner to boot.

As I mentioned in the original posting, I got the Lamonster cut and love it. I will need to adjust the backrest a bit, but I can't say enough about how satisfied I am with the service and treatment that Corbin has given me with their product.

I would recommend this company and their product to anyone.:thumbup:

Slippery

I have had my Corbin for about 2 months, and I have (almost) no complaints. I feel that I'm sliding all over the seat, and my GF feels the same. Is there anything I can use to keep me still in the saddle?

2 wheelers dont have the lateral pressures we experience.

There are two options I'd recommend. First are you anywhere in close proximity to the Corbin offices. The one in Florida is in Ormand Beach. I'd see if they would give you the LAMONSTER CUT. The only way I can describe this is that it scoops the seat out more, and for me I actually sit forward more. See if they can do this in one visit.

The other option, and this is what I did before having the new seat with the Lamonster Cut, was that I used a product called SADDLE TITE. Someone on this forum had recommended in an earlier thread and it does work. The only problem is that it does leave a residue and you have to keep applying periodically to keep you from slipping forward. Otherwise it did it's job.

Hope this helps.

Chris
