• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

CONSENSUS HERE WILL MAKE THE DIFFERENCE

My 2 cents

If the potential Highway travel first off bothers you or causes you to pause then get it delivered. I on the other hand rode mine home from the dealer (about ten miles most of it freeway), and then took off from the house and did a very "slow mountain" ride. You will learn it fast. Respect it but don't be afraid of it. Ride it and have fun! Congrats on the new ride.:yes:

By the way...
Where in New Jersey are you? :D
I'm less than an hour from Port Jervis, NY... and there's TONS of great roads to check out around there!

I enjoyed AND listened to each and every post here. The fact you guys (and girls) took the time to post something was extremely appreciated. I probably shouldn't have titled this thread with the word "CONSENSU as one poster suggested, because regardless of the majority answer, I will do what I feel best FOR ME, when the time comes. The answer really does depend on the type of person, their experiences, their ego, and their fears or lack there of.

I'm NOT in fear, but now being a retired police officer after 30 years and at the age of 62, i'm much less likely to push my luck. I will have the dealer deliver it to my home. It will cost me nothing and it will be in showroom condition while sitting on my driveway. I'm not out to impress anyone. I'm a responsible person and have no desire to put my life, or more importantly anyone else life in danger, because I don't want to admit "i can't handle it".

Half the fun of this Spyder that I haven't gotten yet, has been the information and help I have gotten here on Spyderlovers. Without letting ego influence my decision, I want to be around for a long time to enjoy my new toy. I want to meet the people I have chatted with here. Getting a delivery and then being able to sit on my new bike, read the manual (2 times), play with each control till i have the correct feel for what it does AND doesn't do, won't shorten my excitement or pleasure. PLUS, i'm getting it delivered on the first day of my wife's trip to S. Carolina. So, i'll have a complete 10 days to play and learn and test ride and sleep on the damn thing if i want . . . GUILT FREE!

Thank you everyone. You ALL gave me pause and insight and that can only help. Pix when the bike arrives. (few weeks yet)

I knew there would be both sides of the coin on this one but im surprised how many said have it delivered or were worried about it. Since it was free i think you made a good decision but im curious when you do finally ride it if you dont think to yourself "i could have easily ridden this home"

Good luck and update the post when you ride it!

...I think if you actually counted the posts for and against the vast majority said GO-FOR-IT.....and after everything has gone perfectly....then you can say " I could have easily ridden this home "........BUT you can only say this AFTER ALL HAS GONE WELL.............Hindsight is the best view...............All I know is this....I would not have wanted to be one of the people to tell His widow .............Sorry, I told Him to GO-FOR-IT..........Mike
