• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Complaint Forum

Well Roger,

You mean people complain on this forum?

I suppose there is none. I was amazed at the turn your recent thread took. I thought you started a well intentioned thread, and then the bottom fell out. There must be something I am missing about people who love Spyders.

Not if I do not know who they are

Why bother to ignore? You can just choose not to read their posts.

Unfortunately it is just recently I have come to think there are some with an agenda not in keeping with the Board Name. FWIW, I was reading RR's thread with interest until . . .

Lamont covered it all. There are bashers and naysayers that lurk just to say their usual rant. Some do not even own a :ani29: any more.

If you're not happy here or with your Spyder then might be time to move on. I know misery loves company but you'll not fine that here much longer. I plan on being more active here now that my personal life is getting back in order. :doorag: End Quote"

Man do I know that feeling!nojoke

I'm relatively new

to the Spyder world. We bought of first Spyder in July. When we were at the dealers to take possession, there was another customer that I got into a conversation with. He suggested I look up Spyderlovers on the web. I did, and what I found was a nice place for a newbe to go and learn more about my new machine, and the people who ride them. If you've been a Spyder owner/ryder for a long time you may have forgotten just how much value this site has for those of us who have recently joined in. Let me tell you, I find the site very helpful, I have learned to value the opinions of many of the posters, with respect, even though I have never met any of them. All I can say is, PLEASE don't let any of the negative posters destroy this most valuable gathering place, and tool. I would, as well as many others, miss it!!

Very well put!:thumbup:i felt the exact same way when I find Spyderlovers and still do!

My Perspective

I stumbled across Spyderlovers when I was researching 3 wheeled vehicles back in the summer. After reading the huge volume of negative comments, I almost crossed the Spyder off my list. If you don't know who is a hater and who is an honest rider, it is easy to get the impression that almost every bike is having serious problems. The only reason I didn't walk away was that I recognized Lamont from our mutual participation in a Goldwing forum many years ago and I respected his opinion. Those negative posters painted a very erroneous picture for me. I have since started to recognize the personalities here and am learning who to believe and rely on.

Having said all that, I don't think even harsh opinions are always a bad thing if they are truthful. Here is why. At the time I was shopping for an RT-S, there was an abundance of new and very lightly used 2013 RTs for sale at very favorable prices. I might have bought one right away if I hadn't read so many consistent reports here about heat and fuel vapor issues. I kicked in an extra $3000 (at least) and bought a 2014 instead. So far, I have been very happy with that decision. I am thankful for all the members who were willing to share their bad experiences in a thoughtful and low key manner. If I thought these forums were just an unpaid advertisement for the good points of the machines, I really wouldn't be nearly as enthusiastic about hanging around.

Edit: I would love to see a forum created to give people with a bad attitude a place to go and leave the other forums alone. I just don't think it would work.

Just want to add that Monday is the first time I've been blasted over semantics. Some people need to get a life!

SpyderLovers is now back to the home I know and love...

An internet jewel

I've learned so much from this site since beginning research for my Spyder purchase I really think that without it I might possibly have made a decision that could have caused me grief, both mental and physical (read fried right leg) for a lot of bucks shelled out on what supposed to be a big time fun machine. Lamont runs a first class operation IMO and if folks refuse to rise to the bait thrown by those who get a charge from complaining for the sake of complaining they will either leave of their own volition or Lamon will chuck 'em. Either way we all benefit. JMO

My only complaint about my Spyder and BRP is that they waited until I was retired to invent this thing. THAT IS TOTALLY UNFAIR. They know they could have invented it when I was 30--they only reason they waited so long was to .... um, I can't think anymore:spyder2:. Going for a Ryde now...

Being a newbie on this forum and a new spyder lover, I think that admin are doing a good job, policing.

That being said, I ran a successful forum for another industry for 16 years, had over 20K pages when sold last year. I told my sponsors that I would check out any negative post, but if found to be legit, it wouldn't be pulled. It was their responsibility to take care of the problem. My retention rate was 100%.

In the case here its primarily one company BRP. IMO they should be monitoring every post. These owners are the cheapest R&D they can buy. No matter how great their engineers are, nothing compares to the owners that "re-engineer" their bikes. From what I have been reading BRP should be sending this forum a lot of $$$ for the R&D that is here for free.

If a person has a legit complaint he should be able to voice it. More than likely, someone here will have a solution. I have a new BMW, I love the car, but you wouldn't believe the little stupid things that their engineers thought that they needed to do or not do for you.

So much for my 2 cents:lecturef_smilie:

having a complaint section would not be good.....would serve no positive purpose...to many people would jump on the "haters"....I have been called a "Spyder...BRP Hater" and other things......but that is not true.....I love my Spyder....was really disappointed and disgusted for a long time....I voiced my opinion...loudly.....which was not favorable towards BRP and the ST....but some people almost ran me off for good.....but I refuse to get in a pissing contest with anyone....so I left for awhile....but it is hard to jump back in....just being careful.....just to let everyone know....the ST is running great and I still love my ST

They do monitor. The member's name is BRPCare. Of course, he has to be careful with what he says, regarding spyder issues.

They shouldn't/don't need to say anything, listening would be their smart move. They should put Lamont on their payroll.

I hear where you are coming from my 2011 RS-S SE5 has been in the shop since Sept. 30, 2014 for shifting problems. I got it back on Nov. 29,2014 for the second time and it still is not shifting. I have over $20,000 invested and nothing to ride and I can't even sell it even though it only has about 15.000 miles on it. I wish BRP would have one of their techs to come to the dealer and fix it.

So your dealer needs to get their act together. If they can't fix it then they should be asking for help from BRP.
Why have they given it back to you without an effective repair? I hope you didn't pay them for 'not' repairing your
bike.
Bottom Line: It is neither BRP's fault or a faulty design. The dealer's service department should
be competent but it would appear that this is not the case.

Apologies for the OT post folks!
This is typical of why a "Complaints" forum would not be constructive. If you have a specific issue with either BRP or,
more likely, the dealer it is no good telling us! It achieves nothing.

This is the type of thing that BRP should get right on, track this guy down and get his ride fixed. In a lot of industries, the manufactures think that the dealer is their end user customer and they "don't bother" making sure the real end customer is happy. IMO a flaw in their thinking.
