• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Comfortable seat for 2009 RS5 ??

Questions

New member
I would like to replace the original seat on my 2009 to some brand of a total comfort seat. I'm 72 and after 50 miles my butt needs a rest. I have installed 3.5" handel bar risers and floor boards so it is a little more comfortable. I think I will be needing a back rest also. So some of you guys that have been through this let me know.

My wife put on the BRP comfort seat and she loves it. You can also put on a Utopia backrest on it as well. We may be doing that this year. I am sure others will chime in on the seats they have.

S T SEAT

Try an st seat. i think it's much better than stock or the comfort seat. pretty cost effective too. find a dealer with an st, and go sit on it, i think you'll like it. they are flatter and wider and soft on top.

The best seat is.......

Hi Dave here
The best seat is the one you like to sit on for the longest time and still be comfortable.
their are many way to do that but the easiest way is..... install a Gel insert in your stock seat
I am also 72 ride the same trike I have the Heli Bar riser on it and Rivco floor boards and Rivco road pegs
I am 6' 2" 240 lbs. 30 in inseam, your stock seat is way to rounded it is like sitting on a barrel
(over a barrel, Informal. in a helpless, weak, or awkward position; )
I have been selling and installing medical grade GEL into seats long before most everyone knew what
it was, now it's is known as the best way to make a seat comfortable.
Gel conforms to you and keeps doing so every time you move it removes all the hot spots and pressure points
that is why they use it in hospitals, to stop bed sores. This is a project you can do yourself ask others here on this
forum, you can make your barrel shaped stock seat great yourself for under $100.00
Call me some time and I will help you out, or you can spend hundreds on a new seat.
Ride Safe
Dave

The next step if you want to change seats is to go with the BRP comfort seat. I put one on my 2009 RS and also have one on the 2011 RT. A definite step up from the OEM. I have also used Corbins on my other two :spyder2:'s. They cost more and are somewhat harder than the BRP. You either like it or you don't.

Gel has been mentioned in the previous thread--that is also a good option. As added support, I have a sheepskin gel pad and an Airhawk cushion. I play around with the combos depending on the pain of the day. I am also at the point where I am good for 50 miles or so before its time to stretch.

Listen to Dave! Skip all the off the shelf aftermarket/other oem seats and get in touch with Dave and get it done.
I've owned just about every off the shelf RS seat available and after wasting a half season and a crapload of cash finally did the seat work myself and had Dave put the finishing touches on it. Best money I have ever spent on my Spyder!
Motorcycledave is your solution! No joke!
