• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Cognac paint?

Has anyone in the US actually bought 2014 Cognac color paint? I have the PPG number and local PPG paint shops say it's only available in water base. That takes special equipment to spray. I want to build a trailer and paint it to match my Spyder. Just about ready to take a panel in and see if their color match camera can do it in solvent base paint.

We had ours custom matched at our local Paint shop(PPG), a perfect match! I too found it hard to find the color by using the Paint codes.

COGNAC ----PERFECT MATCH

This can be purchased at any Auto parts store it's made by " VHT "...Burnt copper ( color ) # SP-402, see these pics from Deanna777 album for her Dash -surround.........Here's the thing about " PERFECT MATCHING " , any good Pro painter will admit there is no such thing......If they are going to match your paint , they are going to paint at the very least AN ENTIRE PANEL, so there are natural break lines from surface to surface......What you are doing is painting something that is going to be at the very least 3 to 4 ft from your Spyder.....The paint I just listed is so close it could be termed a Perfect Match.....Other people on this Forum have used it and were amazed at the color match..............The paint can be bought in 12 oz spray cans & Pints and Quarts......If you are painting a trailer have a Pro do it with this Paint......They will know how to use it best..................If you are doing it yourself , PM me for more info....Good Luck.......Mike

Cognac paint

I have 2 experiences, painted my wheels w/PPG waterbourne, I knew a guy who had a shop using waterbourne, & got some from him . Perfect match, a little weird to paint (color looked purple until about the 3rd coat). Then i wanted spray the rear fender, & my guy no longer was using the waterbourne, so I took the bike to a PPG store & they camera matched it. The 2nd paint was close but not as good as the waterbourne. I sprayed both w/an cheaper 1.8 nozzle gun. Both have to be clearcoated. Unless you have lots of experience, I would use the regular auto paint, although it was VERY expensive, $123.00 per pint. Good luck. MarcusB

Read post # 5 on this thread ( from Blueknight911) or send him a pm about the cognac paint, and look @ Deanna777's album.....Dashboard( 2014RTS-SE6 Dashboard) Deanna

I thought the rules changed and you could only buy water based auto paint now. :dontknow: I don't paint cars for a living though. The couple I have had to have repaired, due to hail and peeling, all they would do was water based and sounded like they were not allowed use anything else anymore.

I may be wrong on this but I believe BRP uses water based paint because of Canadian Law...................Mike
