There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. Chevron Techron fuel system cleaner

Wow! I ran a bottle of this stuff through my Spyder (a 2008 GS) and WOW! Very noticeable increase in perceived horsepower and smoothness.

I'm actually really surprised as I would have thought my fuel system was really clean and in good shape. Both the previous owner and I have always run quality 93 octane through the bike...

Definitely worth the $9 from Walmart!

OVER THE COUNTER ADDITIVES

Show me the dyno sheet, then maybe I'll go get some......If you think it works ....it does !!!!!!!.....Mike...

Yeah, I know...but, I feel like it does...and even if it's a placebo wow!

At least you're sharp enough to be aware that the placebo effect is busy doing its thing. It's responsible for so many glowing reviews of so many products here and everywhere. That feel good feeling when you think you've made an improvement. Every time I change my oil I swear my vehicles run better even if I'm just using the same oil. :roflblack: Gotta love it. It sure helps with buyer's remorse when we buy some expensive dunsel.

That said Techron is one of the better fuel system cleaners and, although unlikely, it may have actually improved the performance of your Spyder if the injectors were really badly varnished (which is rare).

i had this friend who was my mechanic and he always reccommended running a bottle of that through my truck like once every 10 fill-ups says it cleans out system and o2 sensor makes you pass emmissions test better. hadnt thought about running it in my spyder think i will. i'm always burning 91-93octane.

PLACEBO EFFECT

You're engine does run better after an oil change ....but it's only .0001 % better so I doubt if you can feel it....Medically/physically speaking it's a different story though. The human body can heal itself , the brain is far more powerful than we can even imagine. That's how the PLACEBO works ...it's you're own brain doing it.... i.e. how does the 98 lb. woman pick up the burning car off her child ...it's because her brain tells her she can do it......PLACEBO EFFECT in action........Mike.... Of course this is IMHO

Ford has recommended Techron for years.Techs I know like it too. I just fill up at the Chevron and call it good.:)

Mike, I think you got the placebo effect mixed up with the fight or flight response & adrenaline surge. Kinda different. Not a biggie unless you're planning on becoming a neurologist. :yikes:

It's not all placebo effect. My 2-wheeler was getting difficult to start. The tech recommended techron, suggesting an injector was maybe stuck open when parked, causing flooding. After a tank full with techron the starting problem disappeared.

Every good mechanic I know recommends Techron. I run it through my truck a couple of times a year. It is the best EFI system cleaner I have encountered. I have even used it to get a "dead soldier" running again. No placebo effect...it is the real deal.

IMO.... it's a great injector and throttle body cleaner. especially,
if you're not able to avoid having to use ethanol gas. horespower...
not sure about that... ?

AMSOIL Quickshot

For those of you that have AMSOIL accounts you might want to look at the "Quickshot". It is specifically formulated for Motorcycle use. In addition to a terrific fuel system cleaner it is also a fuel stabilizer and addresses Ethanol related performance issues. best of all, you can buy it wholesale :yikes:

I've used Chevron exclusively in all of my vehicles for many years; except when there isn't a station around which is seldom. When I bought my '09 GS, I was told by my dealer to put 87 octane in, so I did....until I started reading about Star Brite, so I began putting an ounce of Star Brite into the tank with every fill up. Once I got the RT, I continued to put Star Brite in until the dealer that sold me this :spyder2: (different than the one who sold me the GS) told me to use premium gas and forget about the extra additive. So, after the 2nd tank on the RT, I have always put in Chevron Premium (91 octane) and haven't had any issues. I am happy to pay a few cents more per gallon if it means that my engine won't get all mucked up with deposits. Preventative medicine

Check out the video about Top Tier Gas, interesting stuff: http://www.toptiergas.com/index.html

I'll run a can of Seafoam thru all of my lawn equipment... and the Spyder.... every so often... maybe twice a year.

Also---- higher octane isn't 'cleaner' by any means. People see the higher number and higher price and the placebo effect makes them think it's cleaner burning, they'll get better MPG, more power, etc...... which is hogwash. Unless the engine requires it... ain't no benefit to running it. Pretty sure the RT folks have to run it.... but the GS and RS(as far as I know) don't require it.

Amsoil products seem to be pretty good. It's what I'm running in the Spyder now. Can't say it runs any worse or better..... but it's a good product that doesn't cause clutch slippage.
