• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Check one off my bucket list

I just KNEW that you had better taste than that! :D
There were a couple ( Rush :p and Aerosmith& Who) that I would like to play. Plus the program gives you a backing band to play with. Not too many guys like to play with themselves ....er that just came out wrong:opps:

One of my favorite pickers. And funny too.
By the way, there is another good picker. Ray Benson, front man for Asleep at the Wheel. If you like Texas Swing.

Glad to see so many guitar players here. I only play casually these days since giving up my band a bit over 40 years ago. I'm a dedicated Country music fan and player (finger picking). I also play banjo and mountain dulcimer as well as harmonica. My current favorite guitar is the Zager ZAD80CE. Much easier on the hands and fingers for hours of playing without arthritis giving me a fit. My current collection is a Les Paul, 2 Epiphones the Zager 1 mountain dulcimer, 1 5string banjo and 2 harmonicas. I still keep a collection of amps and mikes (you never know). These days all my singing is done 3 nights a week at karaoke (hey, the voice aint what it once was):gaah:.
If you are into stringed instruments Eldery Instruments http://www.elderly.com/ They deal all over the country and have a full repair facility available. New and used available.:2thumbs:

Thanks for putting this one up. Roy Clark is one of the all time great flatpickers. I actually play that one--but Roy is way more cool. :2thumbs::2thumbs:

Lots of pickers and grinners in here! Rock on dudes!

Allison Krauss, Tony Rice, Jerry Douglas...

Got a Les Paul electric and a Gibson flat top here. I keep trying to pick it like Tony Rice or Jimmy Martin, but I don't think that is ever gonna happen!! I think I am setting my sights a little high.

Sent from the corner of walk and don't walk....

My daughter lives in Nashville. I have seen Allison Krauss et al at the Grand Ol' Opry. Good stuff! I have a modest Marantz,Klipsch, sound system that makes it sound like Allison is standing in my Man cave. I have Barcolounger in the sweet spot.

Jerry

Thanks Magdave for the Jerry Douglas clip. Love the Dobro. Retired 20 years ago (at 55) and on my list was learning the banjo. Had to give that up - structural problems in left wrist, couldn't get fingers to the strings. Someone suggested Dobro - wow - was I excited. But with my mobile lifestyle, I'm never in one place long enough to get some help with a good teacher. Now, at 75, I'm thinking I may be "settling down" and I'll look for the teacher first. ;)
