• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

OK, but anytime you, tatt2r, or anybody else complains about the appearance of a big shield like my new (uncut as yet) CHAD, I'm just gonna respond

"Tell me how you like it after 350 miles of steady rain at a constant 44 degrees with your wife on the back." :yikes:

Seeing I've been around the country in all kinds of weather I'm pretty sure this will be better than what I had and it's not any shorter, I just cut the corners so it wasn't so squared off.

My main reason for this shield is to keep these guys off of me. Look what I caught in my web.

I've been waiting to hear from you....

Sooo, how do you like it after 350 miles of steady rain at a constant 44 degrees with your wife on the back." :dontknow::popcorn:

Barb's not talking to me.

(BUT, if we didn't have the CHAD for the trip, she'd have killed me, done CPR and revived me, then killed me two times.)

HDX and Smylinacha, thanks again for the recommendation on the CHAD. You were right--I appreciate it.

NICE mod:2thumbs:! And what you caught looks like one of our beloved pets - Charlie, Rosy & Killer:thumbup:

I hope the new shield with mods deflects those suckers!! I would not like an impromptu meeting with one of those.:yikes:

It's a whole new ride isn't it? Is Barb talking to you yet?:trike:

It does, believe me. I don't have to wear a helmet now if I don't want to. This will be stylin in the hot weather! It catches nasty bugs, Before the shield I was dinged in the head constantly. I'm dinged anyway but the ryde w/ no shield wasn't fun by the end of the day. My helmet was gross by the end of the day!

I got it on but I need to mod my GPS bracket a bit but I got to tell you I'm liking it looks wise now that it's trimmed up a bit. :doorag:

Here's a Lamonster tip for those of you that will be installing a new CHAD.

They give you four bolts to bolt the brackets to the shield. By time you get that i/8" washer in between the bracket and the shield the bolt comes up a little short. :sour: It will work but here's a tip.

Take the stock windshield bolts and use them on the brackets to the shield. Use the bolts they give you and bolt the mounting bracket to the console with those. They are plenty long enough for that. :doorag:

Let me check....

Uh, not so much. :chill:

(Actually, she's just in tough shape from the ride home, got hypothermia, etc, then went to work, BUT made me post a bunch of stuff on Spyderlovers tonight. :dontknow: )

Lamont, I do like the look of the CHAD better without the really square corners. I just don't care for it as it is normally. I know many don't like the look of the F1 and I didn't at first either. I guess things grow on you. Let us know how well it works though, with the new edges. I wonder if it would really make a difference.

I've been looking at the CHAD since day one and I had hoped that they would do what I did before they went to market. The reports have been so good on how it works and it's the only windshield that you can adjust up, down, and forward and back that I knew I could make it work for me wind wise. Seeing I had good luck with cutting down my Cal Sci where I liked it I knew I could do the same with the CHAD.

I liked the look of the Cal Sci from the start and all I really wanted to do is cover my GPS so it didn't look so out of place from the front with the stock shield. The Cal Sci did a good job of that and gave me some extra wind protection.

After mounting the CHAD I see I can move my GPS even farther back now and that's another plus for me. There's no way I could do that with any of Marcels shields.

Were you trying to keep the iWay out of the elements? From one satisfied Garmin Zumo user to a future Zumo user, these things are tough. Mine's been on the Spyder 24/7 (going on 9 months now) in rain, snow, heat, etc. and is still going strong. I think you'll be happy with the Zumo even if the screen is smaller than what you're used to.

Not really, It just looked out of place from the front when I had the smaller shields on. You can dunk the iway in 3 meters of water and it will still work fine.
