There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. CHAD mod- from No Magic Neon

Good Mod!

I've been looking at the CHAD since day one and I had hoped that they would do what I did before they went to market.

:agree: I thought back when the Chad was in development they were planning to round off the top corners when it was finally in production. It looks 100% better that way!

Took a short ride down the drivway and back, so far so good. I'm going to run to town now and see how she does. Just need to get my painter on it now. :doorag:

Here's a few more pics.

I put my new chad on last night. much better for me (6'8"). I still get a little wind at the forehead, but no bugs. Lamonster, I like your rounded corners, Very nice!!:2thumbs:

Let me check....

Uh, not so much. :chill:

(Actually, she's just in tough shape from the ride home, got hypothermia, etc, then went to work, BUT made me post a bunch of stuff on Spyderlovers tonight. :dontknow: )

I remember those days - HDX's Fatboy with a rock hard seat, no good mc gear - hard rain in Upstate NY. But we loved it! Despite all the b*tching I did.:2thumbs:

Looks nice! Did you try it at high speeds yet? I'm loving mine so much knowing that I don't have to wear a full face anymore but I like doing high speeds on the highway and like the fact that my glasses won't blow off.

I've been planning on the Calsci because I really didn't like the looks of the CHAD. However, once the corners are gone, the shield looks great. I have a question though. What kind of tools are needed to cut the shield down? If I have the tools for the job, I'll probably give magic man a call real soon to get my CHAD!

I got it on but I need to mod my GPS bracket a bit but I got to tell you I'm liking it looks wise now that it's trimmed up a bit. :doorag:

Here's a Lamonster tip for those of you that will be installing a new CHAD.

They give you four bolts to bolt the brackets to the shield. By time you get that i/8" washer in between the bracket and the shield the bolt comes up a little short. :sour: It will work but here's a tip.

Take the stock windshield bolts and use them on the brackets to the shield. Use the bolts they give you and bolt the mounting bracket to the console with those. They are plenty long enough for that. :doorag:
Let us know how it does with the corners lopped off. I wonder how much it will affect the wind flow, and if it will increase or cause buffeting.

As to the screws, I am in 100% agreement that they are too short. I am an old drag strip tech inspector, and we required critical bolts to show at least two threads through the nuts. My solution was to replace the 6x16 mm screws supplied with the CHAD with the 6x20 mm BRP windshield screws. Well worth the $20 it cost, IMO.

I just did the same thing but using a Dremel with a cutting attachment (makes it look like a router which is basically the way it works.) and a plastic cutting bit.

Worked well.:2thumbs:

Have not had a chance to ride yet but looking at the relatively small pieces I removed I cannot see that it should effect the airflow too much. Makes a big difference to the appearance though - to me. Mind you beauty is in the eye of the beholder and many people seem very happy with the appearance of CHAD as it is.

Looking forward to a ride report. Did you trim the sides any or just the top?

I never rode before cutting but I can't see that being a big deal.

I'm having the same problem I have with any windshield I've ever used. If it does a good job of blocking the wind from the front I get wind pushing up from behind. I've been playing with the adjustment to find something I can live with and have yet to find a sweat spot. I just adjusted it again and see what I get. Are you folks with the CHAD getting the wind from behind? If I have a loose fitting shirt on it will fill it with air. :(

I'm really not, Lamot, or I'm not noticing it compared with when I had my BRP sport, my F1, and my F1 cut&rebent shields on.

I had the CHAD full up near as vertical as it'd go and slid all the way up the mount for the long ride through bad weather last weekend. For yesterday and today (89 degrees) I liked it all the way down and tilted all the way back toward me, but I was going county twisty roads and not faster than 60mph.

You're between HDX's and my height and Mike3069's and Smylinacha's height as I recall...Let's hear when they chime in how they set the CHAD for best effectiveness. :dontknow:

All the way down, all the way tilted for me. Over 100 on the highway with a lightweight little do nothing beanie helmet and a flimsy pair of sunglasses and I was A-Otay!:2thumbs::2thumbs::2thumbs:

Haven't messed with the adjustment yet, because Smylinacha is 5' tall, and it needs to be all the way down and back for her to see over it. When I get on, I just ride with it there....

That being said, I haven't noticed any backdrafts that were troublesome. There is definitely less than on my Roadglide.....Also, I haven't ridden without a jacket yet, so my impressions could change.....:doorag:

Sleeveless shirt today and got enough wind to keep me cool - not much though - not like I was being blown away or anything. Just a "gentle breeze" - wow I sound like a femine commercial, huh?:dontknow:
