• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Broke my antenna

I was putting my half cover on my RTS tonight and my antenna snapped. How irritating. Fortunately I listen to iPod. :) Guess I need to order a new antenna, and be more careful when putting my cover on.

 Ouch! Thankfully it's a pretty easy fix...
Are you replacing with another stock antenna, or are you going to try a "Shortee"?

I had my CB antenna replaced under warranty. Broke at a flaw in the threads . Anyhow I think you have to buy a kit that includes a mounting block with ground that goes inside the speaker pod and the antenna . It might be better just to get an after market antenna .:dontknow:

Walmart has a nice rubber stubby Scosche antenna that comes with a bunch of adapters and fits nicely on an RT... price about $8.75

Someone stole my antenna off of my bike while a bunch of us were having lunch. They took the antenna and the little rubber bottom as well. Now I have a hole where the antenna was. I have looked around at some auto shops and they have antennas but no little rubber "boots"

Any ideas? This is the radio antenna by the way.

:gaah: Well THAT'S annoying...
The rubber bootie is most likey going to have to be a BRP item in order to make sure that everything knits together correctly down there; you don't want water taking the path of least resistance down into the bodywork!

Broke Antenna

I lost my antenna on the way to Spyderfest so i bought a aftermarket one at auto parts and installed it. It was a temp fix and when I got back home worked on it and found that the threads were the same on the antenna and the base,so I got two screws and ground the heads off and wield the heads together and put one end in the antenna and screw the other in the base and tighten with a wrench. Than order a boot from BRP and works just fine on the antenna. The extras you get with the antenna do not all help one to fix it.

The Wal-Mart shortee works in a pinch. No rubber boot with it though. I used good ol duct tape as a temp. fix until I got my repalcement BRP antenna. My original antenna was lost on the road somewhere--boot and all. That was all part of the "no lock washer and use blue locktite" issue.

Me too...

I also got the Chrome Shortee after I caught my OEM in the garage door. Very nice product...

Caution- Don't play with the old broken OEM one... you'll be picking painful pieces of carbon fiber out of your fingers for days... (Don't ask me how I know!) :banghead:

Lol, I saw it had lots of slivery pieces. Don't worry, I won't ask. ;)

Actually, the Wal-Mart shortee works great as a permanent replacement. I used the Custom Dynamics shortee on my 2010 RT, but recommeded by a friend I decided to try the WM on my 2012 RT and it worked out fine. I did use the Can-Am rubber boot along with the WM antenna as shown below:

I believe that the rubber boot for your antenna is

BASE ANTENNE DR*ANTENA BASE RH (Except RT STD )
708300156
Left side would be the same
1
$14.99

Sorry, I don't have the left hand boot number handy, but I don't believe it is the same.
