• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Brake master cylinder reservoir leaking

glad

John, I'm starting to think that we went to different High Schools together! :roflblack:

i am just glad my old days are over, i used to be in pretty good shape but now at 62 and retired all that muscle i use to have turned to flab. my only problem is that my mouth still thinks my body is young and when i get mad to quote my ex, YOUR ARE NOT THE PERSON YOU USED TO BE AND SOMEONE IS GOING TO BEAT YOUR :cus: ASS ONE DAY. omg i hate when she was right

My RS has always been difficult for brake fluid level. If it is full I get some that seeps out of the caps, not a lot, but a little. I even had the reservoir replaced (broke one of the nipples) and have swapped between 4 different caps and they all want to leak a little when the fluid is full. Again, not a lot, but just some seepage (never to the frame though).

If I lower the fluid level so the caps don't leak then I get the brake failure message. I've played with fluid levels on/off for the last year. So what I have done to keep the weeping fluid off the frame was to cut a small piece of towel and tuck it in around the caps. I would swap it out at each oil change with a fresh piece.

Well, today I tried something different. I pulled the bottom splash pan above the rear tire and removed the two sensors on the bottom of the reservoir and zip tied them up with other wires. From there I removed about 1/2-1 oz of brake fluid from each side. I'd say that looking into the reservoir that the fluid in the tank is about 1/2 full. Rode about 250+ miles today and checked the caps when I got home. No fluid in the caps, no alarms, messages or anything else.

I'm just going to add checking the brake fluid level visually at each oil change and leave the sensors out....
