• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

brake light modulator causing errors!?

Yesterday I attempted to install a brake light modulator on a neighbor's 2010 RS. It's the exact same module I have on the CD third brake light on my RT.

I cut the wires to the brake lights, and installed the module. When I powered the bike up, I got a DSS error, check engine light was flashing, and the display read "limp home mode". I disconnected the module, hooked the brake lights back up as factory, and everything reverted to normal. I did this about 4 times, same results each time.

What in the heck could be causing all that mischief just by installing a brake light modulator? Mine's been working perfectly. I don't get it, especially the limp home mode.

Thoughts?

I don't remember the brand or the vendor but IIRC there was a warning for that particular one that said it could not be used with a bike using CANBUS.
