• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Last night leaving my friends driveway and again on the freeway at 70mph my display said brake failure.I checked fluid everything it was ok.Has this happened to anyone?

Has your brake fluid been changed? Same thing happened to Bruisesbaby on her 2010 RTS. The brake fluid needs to be changed at 12,000 miles or every two years. If the brake fluid id very dark, it needs to be changed. After the dealer did that she had no further issues. As FB said, it could be a sensor. Or worn brake pads.

The more info the better to help us to help you ......

Its a good idea to update your profile and add a SIGNITURE LINE with common info about your Spyder, like model, year, miles, mods etc... that way it shows at the bottom of every post you make and when ppl are trying to help & advise you, they won't have to ask for such info & you won't have to retype that same info every time you make a post with a question, just a suggestion ;) & if your not sure how, here's a few links helping to explain.

Signatures, Avatars and Profile PicturesWhat are signatures?
'Signatures' contain information that you want to include at the bottom of all your posts. This might include pictures, links to your site(s), quotes, etc.
What are avatars?
Avatars are small images that people use to identify or distinguish themselves to other forum members. In some cases the administrator will not allow avatars or only allow them for specific members. The administrator can also provide some stock avatars people can use, or they can allow members to upload their own custom avatars from their own computers. These avatars will be displayed as part of the user info in posts, as well as in the public profile.
What are profile pictures?
Profile Pictures are photos members can upload that will display in their public member profile. This option may or may not be enabled by the administrator.
How do I set signatures, avatars and profile pictures?
You can set and change your signature, avatar and profile picture in the User Control Panel (providing the administrator has made these options available).
For signatures, click on 'Edit Signature' under the 'Settings and Options' area of the navigation bar within the User CP.
To select an existing or upload a new avatar, click on 'Edit Avatar'.
To upload a profile picture, click on 'Edit Profile Picture' in the 'Your Profile' section.

As for your Brake Failure Warning, how many miles since your last Brake/Fluid Service? As stated, old fluid will throw a Warning. Curious, did you try to pull up any codes? To check, have the Spyder running & use your thumb to depress BOTH the MODE & SET Buttons and use your other hand to depress the Turn Signal Cancell Button (Push it in) ALL 3 at the same time. Doing so, your center LCD screen should either show a blank screen denoting no Fault Codes or they should show up with something like C1282 which I believe is a Brake Failure Code for Low Pressure. Knowing this will give you a place to possibly start looking.

I get the brake failure about every 2000 miles I just add about 1/4 of brake fluid or less (always for the front brakes) and the light goes away. You have to keep these little resesovors filled to the top or you will get a warning light. I am not sure if going through this much brake fluid is normal and I do see alot of greese build up on my rear shock spring. I am not sure this is normal either. I thought I would swing by the dealer to ask about why my RS SE is using this amount of brake fluid and is the greese build up the result of this.

Other than that, the bike rides like a dream

It's a 2012rt.I think i may have found the problem with the brake failure light.Ihad a rear tire installed last week and the tech may not have reset the sensor on the rear.

These babies are particularly sensitive to brake fluid levels... As your brake pads wear; that WILL drop the fluid levels...

fill them only to the full mark not to the top

Ok thanks, good to know, the first time this happened to me I stopped by the dealer and he showed me how to add brake fluid without taking the seat off. He filled it to the top so thats what I did the next time it needed brake fluid. I will take care next time. However, when I put cap back on nothing squeezed out.:dontknow:

Also had the brake failure thing go on. The first time it happened, I was going down a very steep grade on a mountain pass--no joke!

Apparantely, the problem was caused by the "tilt" of the machine. On level ground, not a problem. I now check the brake fluid on a regular basis.

You should make sure that you cover any painted surfaces as the brake fluid will eat the paint off quickly.
