• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Bottom Panels

Ugly day here in Pa today so I thought I would look at removing side panels, just so I get familiar with them as I plan on doing my own oil & filter changes other than the initial 600+ mile service. So it calls for removal of the bottom panel on the left hand side. Now in my opinion if you want to let air under the tupperware this is this easiest thing you can do. Take this panel off on both sides and let the air in. This just really opens it up and it seems like all the air you would ever need would enter.
I think I read on here while back that someone had done this but I cannot find it. It may have been on an RT. Any thoughts? Has anyone else tried it?
I am going to wait till a warm day in the spring, 80F+ go for a 20 mile or so ride come home remove both of these panels and I will go again see what the difference is.

Many have removed the panels. Some think it will let more dirt in, while others think the panels will trap and hold more crap.
Mine have been off since week one and I have no plans to put them back on.

Panels

I have an ST-S and removed the bottom panels months ago. My Spyder seems to run cooler and I see no negative effects.

Good to know! I rode 32 miles x-mas eve. It was 35F out and 3/4 of the way through the ride I could feel the heat on my left calf. Not bad but I could feel it. All I could think of was how hot that was going to be when it was 80 or 90 out! I have not ridden the Spyder above 55f. I only picked it up in November.
Looks like I may make them disappear in the spring.

We regularly remove those, and relocate them to a top shelf in the garage! Anybody needs a set, pm me. Can not imagine why, but, I got several!
