There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Big up to Carlo@BRP, he got my DPS busted spyder back for me

2 days shy of 6 weeks and my :f_spider: is sprung from jail yesterday. Carlo was able to contact my dealer and authorize the removal of a DPS unit off of another bike as there was no telling when the third replacement DPS unit would arive and if it would be right one this time.

THANKS A MILLION CARLO!!!!!!! :2thumbs:

Of course it is like 38 degrees out, but nonetheless I have put over 110 miles on it since yesterday. My full Gerbing heated setup allowed that to happen. :D

Steering feels good and solid so far, the only thing that seems worse is the gas mileage. I was sitting in a lot of traffic and it took me almost 4 hours to do that 110 miles. The result was like 20 mpg. :yikes: My 6 cylinder car is doing 21 mpg.

The ECM recall was also perfromed while it was in jail, so no telling. I will wait and see how it does on open roads before I call the dealer.

I am just soooo happy to have her back. :D

I'm glad to here your Spyder is out of jail. Mine was released from jail Wednesday. After serving 7 weeks. I rode mine in 80* weather. Sorry you have to wait till spring. I had called Carlo too. I don't know if it helped any. I kept waiting for parts. They would only order 1 part at a time. With a 3 day shipping time. It is good to have them home.:2thumbs:

Carlos

Glad to hear that you have your problem resolved.:congrats: Carlos has helped me out in the recent past also, via Lamonster:thumbup:

Yeah, now if I could get my spyder sprung I would maybe feel like posting more often. This waiting for parts is getting very old. Will be calling my dealer again in the morning to get an update.

Deb... what is it? Three months now? :gaah:

.

2.5 months and counting. One of the parts was in Austria on back order then shipped to Canada and of course that took forever, now I'm not even sure. I didn't call today, like I had planned. I am almost scared to see what is next. I will keep you all informed though.

Carlo's just got my repairs on the move, he contacted me a few days ago, so i gave him the required info, he contacted the dealer same day and presto !! my part was magically at the shop the same day and work is commencing.
mine should be out of jail by end of the week

I have to give it to Carlo, he seems to really care about how we are treated. Mine has been in for the steering...7 weeks gone. I couldnt get anything out of the dealer, one call to him and now they have the new DPS. Prob wont get it back til after the first of the year though but it should be soon...:2thumbs:

I would think if Carlo really '' cared '', He would be more proactive than postactive. 7 + week's that's crazy,:gaah: How can any company allow repairs to take that long?, And stay in business. :( Classic Pavlovian reaction = You wait week's for your ride to come back  Carlo come's to
the rescue' now he's a hero and all is forgotten.

If Carlo doesn't know you have a problem, How's he going do anything for you? He's not a mind reader fer :cus: sake. I don't blame Carlo, I blame the dealer, for giving you the run around.

I wrote Carlo an email about my problem with the steering and it was fixed right the first time. Mine was in the shop for a week and a half. I also wrote him about another concern and he called me the next day. I missed his call but, returned it and he told me, he just sent me an email and than told me what was in the email and what I had to do. He also told me if there is a problem, just give him a call.

If Carlo and BRP didn't care, why would they put an email address and phone numbers to call? For :cus: and giggles? Use them! That's why BRP put them there.

You can also contact Lamonster, if your having on going problems and need support. If you look at the top of every board, you will see Lamonster's message. I've seen several posts where Lamonster contacted Carlo for problems a member was having and it was resolved that way.

If my Spyder was sitting at the dealer for two months, I wouldn't blame Carlo or BRP, I'd blame myself for not writing or calling BRP, when I brought it in or after the first time, I got some silly excuse from the dealer.

Luckly, I have a good dealer here that is a SeaDoo dealer and cares about there customers. Not all dealers are like that, from what I read on this site.

Carlo is :2thumbs: in my eyes and cares about his Spyder customers, if he knows your having problems. If he doesn't know, who's fault is that?

:agree:
I've made it pretty easy to make sure your ongoing problem is moved to the front of the line.

If you don't take the time to fill that out and send it to me I guess it's not that big of a deal to you. Those that have seem to have had good results.

Hey Carlo

Hopefully you are looking at this thread. Several weeks ago we talked on the phone and you mentioned that there was a forthcoming announcement from BRP regarding the steering issues that a few of us have had. You also suggested that the info would be passed on via websites like this one so I was hoping for an update.

Anyone have any current info..... Lamont??? I got the feeling from Carlo this was going to occur sooner than later.

After talking to Carlo about a surging problem and the second update, I asked him about the steering issue. Carlo said the engineer's and tech's are still looking into the problem and it could be awhile before they come out with an answer to this steering issue.

This was about a week and a half ago I talked to him and he said everyone will be notified as to what they found. Carlo couldn't give me any kind of time frame, so my guess is it will be awhile before they come out with an answer to this problem.

In a way this is good that they are taking a hard look at these DPS units that have been returned. This way they can get it right the first time, instead of rushing to a conclusion, only to find out the problem still exists.

Thanks Carlo

I just want to say a big thanks to Carlo, he has been a great help to me. My spyder seems to be doing just fine now and I am glad to have it back. Now if the weather would just cooperate LOL. Ya'll take care and have a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!!

Sooo, if I bring my vehicle in for service at a 'factory authorized dealer', and I don't write a letter or call a secret number to get extra special consideration, the factory and dealer shortcomings are MY fault?????

It's nice that you guys cut BRP some slack, but where's it stop?:dontknow:

I agree with you.

And, maybe I shouldn't bring this up because there may be someone here in some type of negotiations due to injuries sustained when his powersteering took over and he went off the road and off his spyder. But, I've read some members' post where they say no one was hurt. If I remember right, his accident happened about Feb. of this year.

It would seem to me that after this accident and subsequent problems with the DPS on other spyder owner's spyders that BRP would tune in their dealers to act quickly and responsibly by reporting to BRP.

I also realize that Carlo left me a message a few weeks back that they are taking this problem seriously and are continuing to work on it. However, at this point there seems to be no end in sight for pin pointing the exact problem.

I can only speak for myself . . . . .

. . . . Carlo (BRP) and my dealer came through for me.

They contacted me ( about my steering issue ) BEFORE I contacted them. The dealer and Carlo both demonstrated competence and concern. We all 'think' the problem is solved and it was done both professionally and in a timely manner.

Do I wish it had not happened? - yes.
Could it have been fixed faster? - I don't think so.
Am I satisfied? - yes, very.

Am I cutting BRP too much slack on this? In my case, no - I don't think so. They performed far beyond my expectations and more than any other business I can think of. Did they earn ( and that is the perfect term for it ) my trust and respect? YES. I hope everyone has the same level of service that I did.

The skies are blue, the temps are now above 40 and the roads to Santa Fe and beyond are calling - time to suit up and enjoy what the road has to offer.

I hope you all have a great weekend and at least as many smiles as I am about to have!

Tom
