• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Battery Tender Hookup -- 2018 F3 Limited

Well …. I did it; I could not pass up the deal! A local dealer is dropping the Spyder line because they have no room to include the Ryker in their show room. So, rather than have BRP "take" the units back, they are basically selling them at dealer cost AND including the rebate. Suffice to say that I am getting a brand new 2018 F3 Limited for what many 2017's are selling for USED.

Anyway, as I will now have TWO :spyder2: (not giving up the RT), I know one will sit for longer than "normal" -- plus we keep all our vehicles on battery tenders (unless driven daily). So …. looking through the owners manual online, I did not notice that there is an "accessory" port (as in the rear trunk of the RT) that one could use to hook up a battery tender.

So, is there such an animal on the 2018 F3 Limited and I just didn't notice it?

If there isn't, any advice on adding a battery tender cable to the Spyder is appreciated …. All the best … Ann

P.S. No pics as I don't have the machine yet.

On our 2016 F3L I used the pigtail that came with the battery tender that hooks to the battery and ran the other end out near the left side suspension.

I had mine set up the same as Highwayman, Cowgirl, and it works perfectly and is an easy install. Then I saw Lamont’s dual purpose power outlet, that connects straight to the battery and mounts next to the handlebars. It allows you to plug in a USB socket that can then power something like your phone, but also lets you plug in your tender when parked.

You could always add a power outlet to use for battery tender when parked or for power when on your bike, similar to what your RT has. As long as it is constant power (not a keyed power source) the battery tender plug will work. Otherwise, just use the pigtail and connect it to the battery terminals as posted above.

Hi Ann, I have a new 2018 F3L and it came with an aux. cable near the left front suspension like Highwayman said.

I have bought 2 Spyders from iMotorsports and they both had the battery tender pigtails on them. On the 2017 F3L mine extends out on the left front suspension like Highwayman said.

I put a Warm n Safe jack in/on the left saddle bag which doubles as a >heated clothing< outlet as well as a tender inlet. I just ran heavy wire (16 GA) to it from the supplied plug

as mentioned.

I hooked up a LaMonster power plate directly to the battery and I plug the battery tender into the power port Sorry for the upside down photo. Tried to rotate to no avail.

F3 Battery Tender Pigtail -- And Price

Turns out I did not have to worry about this ... the dealer installs the pigtail on all the units they sell. As I have had several private messages regarding price .... here is a link to the unit I bought:

https://www.freedompowersportsusa.com/default.asp?page=xInventoryDetail&id=5157338&fr=xallinventory&fromsite=decatur&_ga=2.132832078.1993630095.1540596070-918027552.1540596070

Mine is white, I think they are using a stock picture for the add -- not sure if this is the only one they have at this price. Note that, since I am a regular customer of this dealer, they also waved delivery and setup charges (so it is the price shown in the add, plus tax, title, and license. The price in the add includes the $4500 rebate on this model. There are some 2017 USED units selling for more than this (not many, but a few)!

Should pick it up tomorrow or Tuesday …..:yes:Ann
