• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. I have a Battery Tender Plus with the adapter extension that goes into the outlet in the "Runk". I've never used it though. Haven't had to.

I use a 1 watt solar panel(sun force I think). It works to keep a small battery charged. I haven't needed it on the spyder yet but I used it on the wife's bike. I think I bought it online for around $25 shipped.

I have Battery Tender Jrs, Accumate, and Optimate chargers. All have certain redeeming qualities, and all have their uses. Our Spyders usually get hooked to the Accumate 612 or the Optimate 4. The Xtreme is another good one. Just get a motorcycle type charger, with at least a charge/float cycle, and not too much amperage, and you should be fine. To deal with suphation, or have more diagnostics, you may favor one variety over another.

I use the WATERPROOF Battery Tender 800 on all my stuff- install them onboard and leave them there...jet skis, seldom driven cars, boats, Spyder. Very small, dependable, safe, and ... waterproof! Batteries stay up perfectly!

I bought several Wal-Mart "battery tenders", made by Schmucher and plug them into my RT, Gold Wing trike, Burgman 650 scooter, wifes ATV, Kubota tractor, riding mower and motor home (2, engine and house batteries) in 365/24/7. My batteries last a long time, however I change out my scoot batteries every three years, whether they need it or not. I plug my truck and cars in too, but only about once a week for 24 hours or so. I don't remember my last battery failure.

Just my opinion, I think by putting a battery on a charger when the battery doesn't need to be charged shortens the life of a battery.
3 years stock battery [Spyder] never had it on a charger.
5+ years on my truck never on a charger.
I know one thing if you take a new battery and use it before it's fully charged it will never take a full charge.

Same here, times two as dltang's battery hasn't been on a charger either.

I have three of these. MCN rated them the best several years ago.
