• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Best aftermarket windshield

Adjustability is about being able to move the shield into what is the best position for YOU. I have the CHAD adustable windshield. It's adjustable up and down and the tilt towards the rider forward and back. Once I found what works for me, I have not adjusted it since. Ya know, perfect is perfect!!!!

Madstad, no question. CHAD is no longer around and they 'stole' the original design from Madstad anyway...the bracket has since been modified and improved since that time. Give Mark a call...his shields are great...

You always say this. Was CHAD ever sued?

By the way, as soon as I get some more scratches on my Chad I'll switch to Madstad.

No...Mark just improved on the bracket to give it more movement...in effect, the CHAD had the older bracket design...

I have to still get him some pics of my shield...I got the really, really, light gray/smoke...there are no pics of it up yet on his site...I really like it a lot.

I had it a bit too high and just put it back down again...the noise difference is amazing when the wind is going over your head and not through it...

BEST WINSHIELD

MADSTAD IS THE BEST I HAVE FOUND. I LIKE THE ABILITY TO ADJUST THE HEIGHT.
THIS SYSTEM HAS SPOPPED ALL WINDBUFFING.

Only :joke:with ya'll Coz !!!! :roflblack: I've been down this road before and never again will I tread those shark infested waters. :roflblack:

Good luck on your search OP, there are alot of options out there.

I will support and disagree with Randy in the same post. 1.) IMHO all RS's look best with the little windshields. However, if I am going to ride more than about 400 miles in a day, I will put on my larger windshield just to save myself some buffetting on the super slab. If its no superslab and few rigs with trailers, I can do shortie all day.

So its a 1/2 n 1/2 kinda deal with me.

I have some opinions, first the Madstad is the ugliest thing I've ever seen, I had the Givi shield too, not bad, but the CalSci Tinted Shorty is my favorite by far, looks the best and works....btw, I'm 6'0"

I still have the stock windshield in my storage room from my GS. I have a CHAD on now. The stock one does look much better. But, I can find better things to occupy my time rather than switching windshields.
:joke:

i agree

the madstad isn't terribly attractive ,but it really works great. cal sci is one of the better looking shields. just ask arntufun, he is a windshield expert:thumbup:

This from the Calsci web site:
Nearly all of our windshields have vents. These vents are part of the aerodynamic design of the shield, to reduce turbulence and noise. They are not there to make a flow of air on the rider. When you're riding on the highway, any windshield is pushing air away from the rider. This leaves a low-pressure pocket between the windshield and the rider. The air flowing past the motorcycle wants to drop into this low pressure area. If the outside air is allowed to spill into the area between the windshield and the rider, the result is turbulence, noise, and drafts. When outside air spills into the rider area, it almost always falls in a curved path, causing spinning vortices of air. These vortices are noisy and can cause the battering and hammering on your helmet reported by some riders. Our windshields and vents are designed to funnel air into the rider region to relieve this low pressure area and greatly reduce the tendency of outside air to spill in. The vents are designed so that the air coming through them is quickly dispersed, leaving almost no detectable air flow at the rider. Our goal is to produce almost completely still air on the rider with no back pressure.

I Love the Calsci on my GS/RS. Its aerodynamic and is NOT a big sail in the wind. Very well engineered.

I bought the Givi windshield. Few inches taller then their sports touring windshield ( which I tried before this one ). Moved the wind blast from my upper chest to the top of my helmet Much less wind blast.

Plus it looks good

I was looking at the give shield on ebay like the looks on your bike. do you mind if I ask how tall you are? You mentioned that it moved the wind from your chest to the top of your head. seems that would be almost as uncomfortable with your head bobbing in the breeze...
