I realize there has been a previous discussion on this subject, but I just want to add my two cents. I am highly disappointed with the Dyna Beads tire balancing product.
I purchased a new set of front tires for my 2008 SM5 but decided to avoid the $131.00 installation fee the dealer wanted. My auto mechanic changed them for free, but the wheel spindle was too small to put them on his balancing machine, so I opted for 2 ounces of Dyna Beads in each tire. When I took it for a ride, everything was smooth until I hit 52 miles per hour. The Spyder began vibrating with an out of balance affect until it reached 58 MPH at which time it smoothed out at all speeds above 58. I brought the speed up to 75 and back down to 45 noticing the vibration only in the 52 to 58 MPH range.
I put one additional ounce in each tire and went for a 150 mile ride. I ran all speeds from a stop up to 85 and I ran on all types of road surfaces, smooth, rough, railroad crossings, potholes, etc. The extra ounce of beads did not help with the vibration. I found that when I started rolling on a smooth surface, the out-of-balance condition was less severe than when I started rolling on a rough surface. Each time I would stop and start again, the severity of the condition would change, but always occurring between 52 and 58 MPH. Sometimes, I would pick up a severe oscillating effect in my windshield and mirrors as if the weighted side of one tire was on the ground while the other was at 180 degrees opposite.
I am now going to remove the tires from each wheel, blow out the Dyne Beads with compressed air and have my motorcycle mechanic (not the dealership) spin balance them on his tire machine.
I cannot recommend this product for the Spyder.
