BajaRon,

I think last week BRP contacted you and asked if they could talk to the dealer where your bike is at regarding your ps issue. Do you know if they have contacted the dealer?

I assume that the dealer has been contacted but I have not heard from either BRP or Alcoa Good Times yet.

I'm trying to be patient.... Maybe tomorrow.

I can't even believe how long they have had your Spyder!

Mine was in for (what I will almost guarantee will turn out to be the same repair they end up doing to your Spyder) and it was only there 2 days total!

But in my case they even replace the whole PS unit before they did the switch update not just look at the bike doing nothing for 4 weeks! :dontknow:

Wow you are so nice, I'd be flipping out by now! :yikes:

I must say it's not much fun. I don't have time to ride it right now so that helps. Still, it has taken too long. They really haven't done anything to it at all and it will be a MONTH this Saturday.

Just boils down to poor service. Just no plausable reason it should take this long. But I've got 2 choices, leave it or go get it.

I was hoping BRP might get the ball rolling. And I don't know that they haven't. They say we are waiting on Parts that were supposedly 'Not availabe'. They are in now for sure but the soonest that they ordered them was late last Thursday. Don't know what processing/shipping time is.

Thanks for the support. It's nice to know somone really cares! :D

I am with Magic Man here. I would find a new dealer if that is even possible for you. This was a two day fix for me because the part had to be shipped in. I have the best service dealer in California, therefore I have one well behaved Spyder.

good luck with that.

Ok, if you're still following this soap opera here is the latest.

I called Alcoa today. Pretty much the same story, still waiting on the magic "Part". It is enroute and scheduled to deliver tomorrow. We all know how UPS is so it could be delayed till Monday.

Dealer is still telling me it is a BRP delivery issue, not their fault.

AND!!! An hour or so later I got a call from the BRP rep I talked to on Saturday. He said he'd call me back early this week but I guess he is busy....

Anyway, he said the dealer (Alcoa) is telling the truth. There was a "Glitch in the BRP system". Something about an error in the part number which showed "Out of StocK" when in reality the part WAS in stock. The BRP rep said the fault was on their end and not on the dealer's end.

The BRP rep said the dealer had ordered the part when they said they did so I guess that is cleared up now. Chalk up 1 for the dealer.

So, this magic part should be installed sometime Tuesday or Wednesday next week at the latest. Could be as early as sometime tomorrow or Saturday depending on when (If) UPS delivers.

If this long awaited part fixes my steering then I'm "Good To Go". If not, it is back to the drawing board.

So I guess I'll :popcorn:and chill for a few more days. That's what NMM would do...don't you think? :joke:

I guess the real issue besides the part really being backordered is that they told you they installed the part to start with and it didn't fix the problem so they had to order another part.

We like drama!

Is it a magic part because they claimed they installed a part that they later said they couldn't get because it was on backorder?

I guess I'm a member of that same club. My new 2009 SE-5 has been at the dealer now for FIVE weeks. It sticks in gear. Supposedly, they are going to change a spring and some sort of gear position indicator or perhaps it is a relay. Being in Florida makes this no fun at all since we have had generally good riding weather. Missed the BRP gathering in Tampa, and I sure hope they have it going by Bike Week.

You ask too many pointed questions! This part is supposed to be "Really Expensive", though they called it some kind of position sensor. Maybe they are all position sensors!

I know what my position sensor is telling me but I don't think I should print it here....:chill:

Ben (service manager) at Alcoa called me today. Part is in (Chalk 1 up for UPS) and they are going to put my Spyder on the next available rack. If all goes well I'll be able to pick it up tomorrow.

If all does not go well he will call me.

I really appreciated the call. I think most customers would rather have communication, even if it is bad news, than dead air from the dealer.

Could it be that I'll actually get my Spyder back with Power Steering?

To be continued....

:agree: I know I like knowing whats going on, even if things aren't going right.

:agree:Communication goes a long way neven when its not going right :ani29:

I know this isn't the cause, but reminded me of something I read recently. Parts on motorcycles(and everything else, but in regards to this hobby) are becoming victims of the new lead laws. Canada may be ok, but their farmed out production may be affected. If anything is in anyway child related, it's on hold(even if in-stock)...A story on this was in cycle news.

If you are referring to me, LDFIREWORKS, mine's in Leesburg. This is going on week number 6. I called again today and the service manager was not there again, and no one has any idea about what is happening. And this saga continues . . . . . . :banghead:

'08 SE5 problems

My dealer has changed the spring and the sensor and did the software update and it's still getting stuck in 1st gear? Anyone know of any thing else they can replace??????? I would really like to get this fixed before the weather gets nice.
