Well, my bike has been in the shop a week and a half. I was told last week it needs the power steering replaced and it would take 3-6 days to get it. I missed a bike show last week, but was hoping to have the spyder back for this weekend. I called the dealership and they reported the part is on back order at BRP and no one, not BRP or the dealership, even bothered to tell me. I have no clue how long it will be on back order, if anyone will even bother to tell me, and when I'll get my spyder back. Meanwhile the riding season is passing me by!!! :(:(:cus::cus::cus::cus::cus: When I think about it I feel jipped in that the warranty is only good for two years and it's going to be sitting most of this season from what it looks like. I get sold a bike with a faulty part and I'm expected to just wait around until I don't know when....UGH!!! So, my warranty will be good for roughly 3000-4000 miles at this rate.

I hear YA! My first problem (GPS) and I guess I,m lucky They can pick up a week from now and hopefully I can have it back for July 4th?
BRP will cover picking it up (45 miles to dealer) but I think they charge $100 to deliver it after its fixed or I gotta rent a trailer?:dontknow:

I miss it already!!!!!!!!:spyder2:

Amanda B, get in touch with Carlo and see if he can find a DPS unit to send to your dealer instead of waiting for the backordered parts to come in. Last time I spoke with him, he said that he had good success in locating spares for backordered parts to get a customer up and running again.

I'm with you, I've been trying to get a new wiring harness under warranty for a year. They keep telling me it's back ordered all the time.

Same situation exists for the clutch recall. Parts are on back order and it may be the first of July before the repairs are made.

My dealership can't even tell me when the clutch parts are coming in. Someone at BRP's Production Facility knows exactly what the shipping status is... It's called a "production schedule" and with any productin there are due dates and destination dates. I'm tired of hearing "it's back ordered" and "they can't tell me exactly when your parts will arrive". WTH... I can over-night a package around the globe but the guys up North can't get these over the border:gaah:

Maybe it's a vast conspiracy cooked up to keep us Spyders from completely infesting Chicago:yikes:
:joke:

I wonder how many they *would* have in Chicago if there weren't so many in shops or waiting on backordered parts?:dontknow:

Wow

:yikes:I didn't realize so many others were having the same problem with the back ordered parts. Really stinks when you see all the bikes out, and you can't ride, particularly when the riding season only lasts so long each year! If it were winter I wouldn't care too much. Poor planning on the part of BRP if you ask me. If you put out a product you should make sure that parts are available. :gaah:

I've already contacted Carlo again , let's see if there is anything he can do. :dontknow: He seems to be the only one that gets me anywhere with the dealership or BRP.

Just got done with the same crap. 24 days. Only would have been 1 if the DPS they sent the first time wasn't defective. Carlo called me after an email to him and made me top priority. Same deal here. Warranty covered about 4000 miles. Good luck. Hope you make it to Chicago.

Wonder if they're ever gonna stock any parts in the U.S.? Seems like they can fix our Spyders but it's the parts that are the problem by being "back ordered". They need to revamp the entire thing. Make or buy more parts and stock a bunch in the U.S. Seems like that's been the problem since Day 1 with everyones issues, not to mention the frustration of them breaking down. Stinks that many can't ride for a good part of the season. :dontknow::(

I am not much for conspiracy theories but what is happening seems to be a policy decision: If a bike comes in with a serious problem keep in the shop as long as possible using a 'parts shortage' as an excuse. This way they eat through their warranty exposure will little additional cost. Note: If there is another Spyder on the dealer's site, then all the parts are available-they are on that bike.

While BRP has an incredibly creative design they missed on two important points: 1) customer service 2) a competent dealer network.

That's just the way they been doing business,
Nothing changed with their parts delivery. My Sons stopped buying BRP snowmobiles years ago,
Because if they needed a part they would lose most of a season waiting for that part.

My thinking exactly...the part is there it's just on another bike that is sitting. Fix it, keep the customer happy.I don't know that I think they are that sinister in that they are trying to run the warranty down, but I do believe they are all about the quick immediate cash or the new customer, not about keeping the customers they have happy. I see a lot of companies operating this way, as soon as they have your money it's like they don't care anymore because you aren't going to bring them the big profit a new customer will bring them immediately. What they don't realize is that they will be losing repeat customers. This is the second new vehicle I've bought from BRP the first one also had a faulty part. It was a Sea Doo RXP, I broke it in for the painstakingly slow 10 hours which took two days because it was boring. The next weekend I took it out, got it out of the "no wake zone" and hit the gas so I could finally feel the 215hp....nothing. I had to be towed in. It had a faulty fuel pump. I am probably not going to buy one of their products again. It is too much hassle. Sure what they have is different and looks nice, but I'm realizing the most important thing is does it run dependably and if it doesn't do they work hard to keep you happy, because if it not all you have is a pretty garage ornament and an expensive one at that. The whole point of getting the vehicle is lost if you can't enjoy the freedom you have while riding it.

Right or Wrong BRP will not reimburse a dealer for the time it takes to remove a part from one machine and put it on another, then when the part comes in put it back on. Plus they can't sell the machine they took the part off of till they get the part back on. I know it's not good business working that way. But let's be honest most people will try to cut the dealers profit margin to zero if they could. How many times do you hear on this forum ,Wait till winter before you buy a bike, the dealer will be starving by then, or don't buy it from a dealer go on line and get it cheap.[no new rope please]
Some customers will go hundreds of miles to buy a Spyder cheaper, then when they need warranty work go to another[closer] dealer.:sour:

I don't think they should take it off a machine they have at a dealership, but lets face it they have the parts, they are still producing the vehicles. So the parts are there for what they want them to be there for, the machines that will profit them. That would be my point. We can also look at the other side of the coin, how much the dealers are trying to profit off of the customers as well as the companies, so yes everyone is trying to get a better deal. If your going to charge 17,000-18,000 for a vehicle make sure it has good parts, if not prepare to fix them in a timely manner. That is all I want. I don't care about the dealer or BRP quite frankly, and if everyone is being honest they don't care about me or you...only the money that you or I may hand over to them. They show this every time I buy from them by their actions or lack thereof and every time I go to the dealer, it is plain as day. Last time I was at the dealership everyone there was complaining about the poor customer service, they don't call you to let you know what is going on, they don't answer your calls when you call, they don't take appointments, one guy got so fed up he just left. Frankly, I have a hard time caring about a company that quite frankly doesn't care about anything but their profit margin.

Hey I resemble that remark!

I drove to JAX to buy my :spyder:. But before I did, I stopped by my closest dealer, told them what I going to JAX to look at a 2008 Spyder and probably by it and could that match or beat the price, since I would be taking it to their shop for service. They didn't have any 2008's so they couldn't beat the price. I ended up buying my :spyder: in JAX, and purchasing a $1500 service contract with my closest dealer.

who, subsequently closed their doors (not because I didn't buy a Spyder from them but because the owner owns several Cycle shops and decided he just wanted to see HD's) 5 months later, and passed my service contract to a Savannah Dealer, who was so abysmal at repairing/servicing Spyders that BRP pulled the Spyders they had left to service and trailered them elsewhere and basically told the to stop servicing and selling Spyders or they would remove the other BRP products they soldnojoke

So was I wrong to drive 150 miles further to get an affordable (for me) price on a Spyder?:dontknow:
I *wanted* to buy my ryde closer, and tried, but they could not match the price.

Can't match a price if they don't have a matching Spyder to match the price:yikes:
Believe me if the first dealer was making money on Spyders he would still be selling Spyders' Hey if he could make money on Cow manure he would be selling that instead of Spyders and or H.D,s
You run a business to make money. Unless you were the late Malcolm Forbes, Bought a bike off from him once when he had a shop near me.
He almost hit my house with his hot air balloon once ,but that's a story for another day!:ohyea:

Feel bad for you. I am very thankful I love my dealer. He is very responsive, he calls whenever he needs to talk to us. Maybe you might want to go to a different dealer? Have you talked to Carlo yet?
