There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. Backorder

Yep...I've e-mailed Carlos...nothing (so far). I have a bike I can't ride and a pool that I can't swim in (the installers keep pushing the date back), :( not a good summer so far. I have bad luck!

I'm sorry to hear about the trouble you're having.

As a suggestion, when you next speak to Carlo / BRP how about asking them to stop the clock on your :spyder:warranty for the extended time it spends in the shop due to unavailable parts directly linked to BRP's lack of production.

:spyder:in the shop for one month = warranty clock resumes ticking when you're back in the saddle!

BRP's got to do something - and this would be a cost efficient way of at least appearing to care about their customers troubles ?!? :gaah:

Hang in there !

Believe me if the first dealer was making money on Spyders he would still be selling Spyders' Hey if he could make money on Cow manure he would be selling that instead of Spyders and or H.D,s
You run a business to make money.

This particular dealership was actually doing quite well. They were selling Honda, Suzuki, Victory, Can-Am, and Kawasaki, motorcycles, ATV's, and watercraft. The trouble is while they were in SC, they were owned by a corporation based out of FL. Apparently this corporation decided to change their overall business plan and to stop selling metrics completely. At that point they decided to shutter the metric dealerships and keep the Harley only dealerships open. Only they know why they went in that direction, but they did and we lost a decent dealership in the process. Of course it also put quite a few good people out of work as well. :(

I currently wonder if there plan has been successful, and are they making more money off the HD products than they were with the metric shops being open? :dontknow:

As for the original purpose of this thread, I really do feel for those that are waiting for parts that are supposedly on back order. I have heard so many tales on here, a part of me actually believes this is one of the easiest ways for a dealer to brush you off when they don't want to talk to you about the problem.

I actually got lucky one time. The dealership was performing a shock adjustment, and broke one of my casters. They rolled a Spyder off the showroom floor, and cannibalized a front shock from it. They also stated they would get it replaced under warranty, and just put my new part on that Spyder. So, once again, it looks like it all depends on the individual dealer and how far they are willing to go to keep the customer happy.

" What they don't realize is that they will be losing repeat customers. This is the second new vehicle I've bought from BRP the first one also had a faulty part."

After going through the fourth engine in 12 hours on my 215 HP Sea Doo, I decided to get rid of everything that had BRP on it or a Rotax in it. So far the jet ski and the ATV are gone. I am still enjoying the Spyder and I will until the next time it breaks and it takes five months to fix. I don't have enough rotations left on this ole mud ball to be patient. It is not that these aren't golly gee whiz products. It is just that once something breaks, as it surely will, you had better be either patient or willing to fix it yourself.

DPS FAULT

My wifes Spyder is also in the shop in Lodi, CA waiting for a complete DPS unit. It has been there for about a week, and the parts are on back order. She shop can't give us an expected arrival time as there are several Syders ahead of us waiting for the same backordered part.

The Syder did not give us any problems until we took it in for the DPS recall. After having that done, it went into limp mode with a DPS fault about 20 miles away from the shop. I had to turn it around and limp back. It took them only a few minutes to reset the fault, and it was fine for about 200 more miles. Next time it faulted, we had to rent a trailer to get it back to the shop (Modesto, CA to Lodi, CA) and now it sits while all this great California riding weather passes us by.

To add insult-to-injury, the shop tried to tell us that the fix was not under warranty (less than 2 years old). We explained that we had purchaced the 4 year extended warranty from another BRP dealer but we could not find the paper work and he said it didn't show up on the web site. The shop man was rude to my wife on the phone. We did not purchase the Spyder from this dealer, so I called the dealer that we did purchase it from (American Marine Sports in Rancho Cordova, CA). They were very helpful and were able to look up their record of our purchase (even though they no longer sell the Spyder) and send us the info we needed to prove our extended warranty.

My wife has been considering the purchase of a new Spyder RTS, but after learning about all these backorder problems, she is re-concidering.

i do understand, i have taken my two spiders to get add ons and the parts suppliers tell the dealers that the part is there and is being shipped and they tell them that daily and it has been there for a week this time and it has been there two times previous to get them. why do suppliers sell parts they don't have then try to push back, it makes the dealers look bad and the suppliers parts just gleam on the bikes well after today they wont gleam as much for me.

I have heard so many "it's on back order" from Spyder riders that I find it hard to believe that it's BRP's fault all the time. When a dealer tells you "it's on back order" demand to see the back order! It's your right and they can furnish it to you. If they say they can't then chances are the part was never ordered. If BRP gives them an official "Back Order", then you have a right to demand to see it. It's your Spyder, your investment.

I guess you can't change the smiley when you edit...I hope they figure out what is wrong with your spyder! Until then, I suspect we'll both be posting on here about the ordeal...

Mine if running good and I'm afraid to take mine in for service. No problems w/ my dealer but I'm afraid they'll find something wrong and I'll miss the Horseheads ride cuz of back ordered parts. Supposed to take it in next Monday. I'll just think good thoughts and think all is well in Spyderland and I'll get it back a few days after I take it in.

Yep, me too

I didn't want to take my spyder in and kept putting it off because I was afraid this would happen but it got to where it seemed the issue was getting worse and I figured my safety was more important. I also started thinking about the warranty running out next June and figured get it fixed while it is under the warranty. I wonder if they will ever figure out what is going on with the steering issue. At least I got to go to one meet and greet this year. Maybe I'll get lucky and get it back soon, but I'm not counting on it.

You were right to take it in as it is much better to be safe than sorry. Unfortunately, the dealer you took it in to doesn't seem to know anything about good customer service. The good news is it seems the complaints about steering issues have dropped off drastically, so hopefully they will get yours sorted out very soon as well. I am keeping my fingers and toes crossed for you.

Well your crossing of fingers and toes must have worked! :D I just got off the phone with Carlos about 20 minutes ago. He reported the dealer has received the DPS:D I'll call tomorrow and see when it might be ready.

More good news (I hope) the pool guy will be digging for the pool tomorrow and installing it on Friday! Hopefully this happens as I have pool supplies and 360 pounds of salt where my Spyder is normally parked in the garage not to mention they are dumping 7 tons of sand in my driveway...so the stuff in the garage has gotta go to make room!! Looks like it may end up being a busy weekend with pool stuff and hopefully picking up the spyder!

I hope everyone enjoys Chicago!

Right or Wrong BRP will not reimburse a dealer for the time it takes to remove a part from one machine and put it on another, then when the part comes in put it back on. Plus they can't sell the machine they took the part off of till they get the part back on. I know it's not good business working that way. But let's be honest most people will try to cut the dealers profit margin to zero if they could. How many times do you hear on this forum ,Wait till winter before you buy a bike, the dealer will be starving by then, or don't buy it from a dealer go on line and get it cheap.[no new rope please]
Some customers will go hundreds of miles to buy a Spyder cheaper, then when they need warranty work go to another[closer] dealer.:sour:

Wow, that really sucks! Not all dealers are created equal. :gaah: Our dealer DID offer to take parts from a new one on the showroom floor. Always been willing to go the second and third mile with his customer. Guess that's why his dealership is :firstplace:

:2thumbs: It sounds like BRP did their part, now let's hope you get good follow through by your dealer to hurry up and get you back on the road.

Best of luck with the pool coming together at the same time as well. Are you sure you are going to be able to stand all of the excitement?
