• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Autopilot or nanny

How can you tell if nanny took over to save you ? Is there a sound , a feel or what ? Had a couple of times this last weekend that I think it may have taken over but don't really know what the experience is like . All 3 times was at very low speeds , 2nd gear and hairpin turns .Didn't think anything should have been happening but it just felt like a lurching motion for a split second or two and then normal. Don't think I was going fast enough to slide the rear ( didn't notice any loose gravel ) and know I wasn't in any danger of bringing the wheel up .The bike lean in all 3 instances seemed to be pretty level. Happened on dragon and Cherahola .

A light will kick in on your dash--see the manual for the various signs.

I have had the pleasure??? twice during hydroplaning incidents.

You will know if it kicks in.

I have had two separate and completely different "feel" incidents -this week I was doing around 70 on interstate when the skies opened up with a complete deluge in front of me- as I hit the wall of water i actually thought I was going into limp mode because nanny significantly reduced my speed (like down to 40mph) then returned control to me with no limp
in contrast to that when traveling down the tail of the dragon, I managed to break traction on a sharp curve and the breaking action was on compensating wheel following by acceleration to get me out of the skid (wild and wonderful feeling both times)

It is possible that you felt the VSS kicking in. There is more to it than just the traction control and the attitude control (yaw sensor). If the steering effort (torque) and the steering angle don't match, the VSS will apply the brakes individually to try to maintain your intended steering line. Your situation could also be a sign that the steering sensor calibration is off...especially if it happens more in one direction than another, or it reacts to the opposite side of the turn (reacts inward one way, and outward the other). If you were on an off-camber turn, it sometimes gets fooled a bit, and kicks in a little harder and quicker than it should. I have one turn that causes that every time. It might be a good time to push down on the rear of the Spyder and check the rear shock damping, too.

I didn't notice anything pop up on my screen . All 3 of mine happened on really tight right turns at low speed and at least 2nd gear. Wasn't riding fast because the " auto - copilot " was a passenger ...LOL She didn't feel anything which surprised me . I've ridden the dragon many times on my triked wing and only upped a wheel one time and swear I rode the same curves a little faster , maybe not. I'm not so sure I like the machine taking over for me but guess I'll get used to it.

The 2 times that I felt her hand on my should, it was a bit like somebody pulled a plug wire... power was reduced for a second until things calmed down and then returned back to normal.

The RT doesn't usually take over for you that readily. I don't think Miss Nanny ever visited us riding two-up in the mountains this year. A tight, slow turn followed by heavy throttle application will sometimes trigger the VSS...especially on the RS model. I have never seen that on the road, except in an off-camber turn. Your suspension settings can make a difference. Two-up be sure the front preload is set to the max. Excessive body roll can put the Spyder closer to triggering the yaw function. Like I said, if it doesn't seem right, or is asymmetrical, visit your dealer and have him check the sensor calibration.

It is hard to judge the speed around the corners on a Spyder compared to a bike. I have though that I was cornering painfully slowly, only to have to apply the brakes to keep my distance to a bagger in front of me. It's a whole different feel, so don't be so sure your Wing did any better...or worse.

we have bumped our granny a couple of times in sharp u turns and there was no noise. just loss of power and the brakes applied at the same time , it happened quickly and then it was over in a split second or faster...

Think "nanny" took over briefly for on the wife's RS a couple of times on really wet roads. Last time was at Bike Fest when we were starting out uphill from a stop. As she accelerated I saw the bag end do a little wiggle the straighten out and head on up the street.
