• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Apple Car Play download initially failed! NOW Finally available....

I was also able to download Apple Carplay to my 2024 Sea to Sky.
After the download, the Carplay icon showed up, but was grayed out.

So I checked the bluetooth settings and my Spyder remembered my iPhone and re-connected, even though my iPhone was still inside the house.
It also remembered the Sena headset I have installed in my helmet, but didn't connect to it, since it was on the opposite end of the house. And at the time the headset was turned off, and was plugged in to recharge.

So I grabbed my iPhone and my helmet with the fully charged Sena headset and went out to my Spyder.
I plugged the phone into the USB charging port in the top case, which the Spyder recognized it as bluetooth connected, but did not recognize it as being correctly USB connected, which is true. The only USB connection that has data capabilities is in the glove box in front of the handlebars. So I unplugged it from the top case, and connected my iPhone to the USB cable in the glove box.
I also turned on the headset in my helmet.

I confirmed that both were bluetooth connected and then navigated to the Apple Carplay icon, which was now "live".
I pressed on the Carplay icon and it worked. While the display is much smaller than the display in my Honda Ridgeline, it looked the same.
It immediately showed the map for where my house is, and when I selected Destinations it brought up my list of recent destinations, and when I selected one it changed to the navigation window and gave me the first direction through the headset in the helmet.

So Apple Carplay is working on my 2024 Sea to Sky paired to my iPhone and a Sena headset.

Edit: as for the the Apple Carplay appreciation offer letter it says nothing about "until Apple Carplay has been delivered." The only date mentioned is that you have to redeem either the BEST extension or PA&A credit by December 31, 2024.

I hadn't connected my phone to the Spyder or the Spyder to my helmet yet so I had to work through getting those connected. Spyder didn't want to connect to Sena with any other pairings present so I deleted them all and rebooted the Sena. When it came back up, it immediately went looking for a phone pairing and this time I was able to pair with the Spyder. Also had to hunt for a USB cable that would work for USB and not just charging.

At some point in the next month, I'll need to see if I can get a Sena SR10 paired with the headset so I can use a CB with a group I'll be riding with (yes, there is at least one group of people who still use CB for comms, primarily between road captain and sweep).

And I'll need to see if I can get the Garmin Zumo 396 paired again since I'm not going to have time to load the routes into a CarPlay compatible app before departing on Thu morning. And even if I do get them loaded into an app, I want the Garmin as backup since I know I can trust it.

Looking forward to seeing what CarPlay provides since this will be my first time using it.

Super happy to have Apple Car Play after a long wait. One problem is that the Phone doesn't work nor the push to talk.
Symptoms: I can call out but I can't hear the party I am calling and they can't hear me. It seems the call is connected if you look at either phone but no voice.
When using the push to talk button one sees the response on the screen but will not take any instructions. So I can't say "call Donna"

Finally got it installed and my Cardo headset paired to bike.

Not a great start, was playing music via Apple Music, asked Siri to Navigate to local pizza place, which it did. Then the sound quit, then was only coming out of headset speakers at really low volume. Switching audio outputs on the bike did nothing, volume control on bike did nothing (volume meter moved, but no change in volume anywhere), volume control on Cardo did nothing. Shut everything off in disgust and will try again tomorrow when I'm not so tired. I will also delete all my BT connections on the bike and headset and repair everything just to be safe.

I hope this is a one-time glitch and not an indication of how this is going to work in day to day usage.

For those who bought after May 20th, their letter does state that offer is only good until ACP is released. So if those folks haven't used offer yet then they are likely not going to get it.

Yay! I was able to download the BRP Connect version 2.something this afternoon to my S2S but alas it would not pair to my (plugged in) i14 (phone shows connected) nor my Sena 50s. Almost there but no cigar yet!
Maybe by tomorrow.

I stand corrected. I bought my Spyder in March, so the letter I received said until December 31, 2024.

When I visited my dealer about the issue, they shared one of the pages from the document they received, which does have the May 20th date, and says that if a customer purchased prior to May 20, 2024 they had until December 31, 2024 and that customers who purchased after May 20, 2024 had until the feature becomes available.

Which of course raises the question: what about customers who purchased ON Tuesday, May 20, 2024?

I'd suggest that you don't buy trouble if you don't really hafta do it, Racoon! :lecturef_smilie:

If that bit doesn't apply to you, then leave it; we can start worrying about that if & when someone asks the question - but maybe BRP chose that date cos they had no record of any sales being made on that day?! :dontknow:

Still, as yet, that's not our particular monkey, not even our circus - and neither is it something/anything (yet!) that's been raised by one of our members as being their specific concern with all the rest of this palaver!! Sooo.... maybe it's just best left alone!

I was just being silly, and apologize if I confused or annoyed anyone. :joke:

Annoy, nup, I don't think so... ;) I reckon MOST members/readers will see & take your comment for what it was... ;)
Buuut.... Some mothers did 'ave 'em! :gaah:

How long does it take to download and install?
Uh...well...umm...how fast is your wireless internet connection?

The download displays a bar that shows the progress.
The first time I started the download the bar paused and didn't seem to be progressing, so I canceled it, and then restarted the download.

The second time it continued to progress until it finished.
After the download completes it goes through several steps to install the update, and then restarts the display.
I didn't note the time, as I was out in the garage, not near a clock, but the total time, including canceling and restarting was less than an hour.

And that hour included the time it took me to go in the house after the download finished, get my iPhone and helmet, bring them out to the garage, then make sure they were pairing to my Spyder, and then test Carplay.

Apple Car has been released. Again!
