Anyone else seeing this much Metal on their Spyder's oil drain plug?

I agree - way too much metal. Try a magnet on the metal in the filter. Non-magnetic, brass tinted metal may be bearings; magnetic bits may be gears.

Get it to the dealer, and PLEASE DON'T LET HIM TELL YOU "THEY ALL DO THAT". Hope BRP honors its warranty.

Bought it new not 4 months ago... they will honor the warranty, or they can have it back!!

Dropped the Spyder off at the shop just before Christmas. The shop is 120 miles away so it can be a little cold and snowy in December in Ohio!! I was not going to give up one day of nice weather so that is why I did not take it right in. I gave them the oil filter that I kept, and I showed them the pictures. The shop was a couple of weeks behind, so I hope to hear back in a week or so!

This my 3rd response on this thread... I just did my 6th oil change (on the 1330) and I have almost no particles on either GOLD plug. Hope they get yours solved and fixed. Mike

Particles are not unusual. Did you feel them? Metal aligned like that on a magnet, but if it is chalky is is not an issue. If it is gritty, that would be an issue.

I've almost always seen some metal on both my 2008 GS and 2012 RT. I think it was more common with the first few changes. I never felt it was a sign of damage or failure..... just wear.
I'll see what my F3 looks like this winter when I do the first change.

All is normal.... They say it's very common to see this up to and even past the 5th oil change! nojoke

I think the fact that many (Including Me) Switch to the Gold Plugs which have a magnet about 5 times stronger than the weak stock magnet leads to More metal fillings on the tip during oil change?

I have the stock drain plugs still .... Oil change is coming up so I will keep an eye on it.

Changed my oil last night. Had a few small pieces of metal on my drain plug.

I agree with post #30. After about the 3rd oil change it is not uncommon to see the magnets lightly covered with fine power-like filings.

Something is coming apart. My guess is the clutch. Take it to the dealer ASAP. I probably would use the towing option and like everyone said, take your evidence. They will cover it.

Took it to the dealer they say it's all good.

Just did another oil change yesterday and I now have 23,000 miles on this Spyder and once again metal on the drain plug. Called the dealer again and they will call BRP Monday!

:gaah: I know some folks say no big deal... However, I have the 1330 with 29,000 plus and just did my 6th oil change and I don't have anywhere near that much stuff showing. Mike :bbq:

Just lost all forward gears...I feel it's the final drive pulley, but we will see!! It could be internal, I guess.

If you just have reverse and neutral but no forward gears, have the dealer check the reverse actuator switch. Mine went bad last year and had to be replaced.
