• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Any way to get around the Start up safety message?

2014 Rts, any way to get around this in the menu? Royal pain waiting for it to boot up seems like it takes forever lol.
I know about the safety card I have read it numerous times why do I have to be reminded all the time. Maybe someone has a hack work around? New to spyders just trying to learn.

My only Can-Am experience is with the Ryker, so my comments are limited:
1. It may require modification of the ECU
2. EFI bikes with ECU (ECM) require a "wake-up" time...similar to starting up a computer. On a bike, it is usually the time required for the gauges to cycle. Can-Am is just a bit more complicated and lengthy. Let it go through the cycle while you put on your gloves.

This was just discussed on one of the FB groups I belong to, and it has been discussed here many times. I don't recall any mention of a work around.
At any rate, I have a 2014 RTL and my procedure is to turn the key to the on position, do a safety inspection of my bike, by the time I get back to my starting point (actually before that) computer has powered up and I can mount the bike and start it right away. Out on a ride, I turn the key to the on position put on my helmet and gloves mount the bike start her up. Oh, I haven't read the safety card since the summer of 2012 with my first RTL.

Not positive about the '14 models but on my '16 RTS you can turn on the key, press the mode button and press start and the spyder will start immediately. it will take a couple of seconds for the main screen to come up. Dale

:agree: SAME HERE!

.

Yes there is---------- Have a stage 1 or stage 2 ECU flash and the Spyder will start right after turning the key on. Of course, you get a very nice horsepower and torque increase included.

My 2016 Spyder RTL does this quickly maybe 5 seconds.
NOT sure about the other years. Give yours a try and let us know. .......

I also have a 14 RT .... my " going for a ride " procedure is this .... turn on Key ..... back-peddle or push out of garage .... hit mode button ..... Sp[yder starts , I put on helmet & gloves ./.... turn on Stereo and go for a ride ..... Everything I do MUST be done anyway .... it's all about the order you do it .... JMHOI ...good luck .... Mike  PS the last time I read the WARNING was the first & ONLY time :roflblack::roflblack::roflblack:

What Lew said. I have stage 2 on my 14 RTS and I just hit the start button as soon as I turned the key on. Then hang on for dear life. Zero wait time to initiate launch.

Works on my 2014 RTS. I have to wait for the Can Am logo to appear, but as soon as it does, the mode button and start works every time.

Not to steal the thread, but having to hit the mode button to start the bike always struck me as odd. But it does make it less likely that a casual thief could figure how to start and steal the bike. I would hit the mode button anyway, as I always leave it in the Eco mode. I like seeing the indicator telling me when it is fuel optimal to shift up even if I don't always shift at that moment.

Thanks for the tip. I have a 2020 RT Limited and went out and tried turning ignition switch on, hit mode button then start switch and fired up. Didn’t know this little trick. May only reduce start up time a few seconds but we all only have so many seconds in our lives and a few saved here and there, well adds to the total…
