If there were bolt-on mods (
not a CPU tune) that actually increased the Rotax 1330 engine performance, I'd be spending money on that instead.
....
What's your aversion to a proper CPU tune?? :dontknow:
Done properly, a CPU tune/ECU Upgrade can be
totally invisible to anyone 'just looking', including any tech working on the Spyder doing normal maintenance or recall work, and probably even to anyone who isn't extremely intimate with the coding & who doesn't actually download & read/compare all the coding & tables pretty much line by line; it's
extremely unlikely that it's ever going to be over-written by a software update or anything short of completely replacing the CPU (& even if it is, most good tuners will be able to re-load your upgraded tune for a nominal fee, if any!); and it can range from being as little of a tweak/computer mod as just ironing out a few of the hiccoughs & flat spots in the standard tune; go thru the range of restoring
just some or even all of of the 'de-tuned' power & performance that the factory won't let
you, a Spyder Owner, access cos they're overly concerned that you might be a geriatric who's unable to handle all that, and it can do all that without impacting in the least on the maintenance schedule &/or reliability of the engine; or it can jump right on thru all that to unleashing some of the
REAL power & performance these Rotax engines are
actually capable of, if they're ever let loose!!

Admittedly, mine is a V-Twin, so it is more inherently 'exciting' and revvy than the 'torquey but basically lazy' 1330 Triples, but you'd be absolutely astounded at how much more either of these engines/drivelines can and do put out in other platforms, when they aren't so massively de-tuned just for Spyders and their perceived older & more sedate target market!! nojoke - Best money I've ever spent on my Spyder, and the relatively minor additional spend on upgrading the intake airflow & exhaust outlet is something many do in the futile hope of improving the performance of these computer-controlled engines/drivelines anyway, so there's no real loss there....
But I hafta admit that I probably do spend a little more on gas and tires and maintenance items than I would've
without doing this ECU Upgrade tho - not thru the need for any 'extra' maintenance or greater wear on anything, but, not that it ever was 'boring' just simply cos I spend a
whole lot more time riding now that it's that
much more enjoyable, exciting, and downright fun than it was with the stock tune & set-up!!
