• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. Another Thread about Heat And The RTs

vertika boards

Has Fonz mentioned having a hot foot with the Vertika floorboards he has?

Nice facts, but no conclusion. How do you explain the testimony from those who report no heat problems regardless of the ambient temperature? BTW: the Southwest doesn't hold the deed on high temperatures -- it gets hot in the rest of the country, just not as consistently.

Just picked up my new 2012 RTS last week. The tech at the dealership mentioned that the radiator outlet was redesigned for the 2012 models with the addition of a baffle and it redirects the heat away from the drivers foot pegs. After riding this week in 100degrees + temps with 100% humidity in sneakers I did not suffer any heat problems. This is my second Spyder ('09 RS) and it was worse but not that bad either. Could this be why some have issues and others not? Don't know when they started the design change and it could have started with late production 2011 models.

Hmmm? Per my conversation with customer service (a few weeks ago) they advised BRP is aware of the lower vent heat problem and that there may be a fix in the future. I asked when in the future. Unknown.

Just another case of salesmen saying anything to get a sale. There are no differences in the vents in the new models.

I would agree but the bike was already bought a few days earlier, my second bike (09RS) at the dealership and the tech who was adding some mods for me was the one making the statement. But I don't have any comparison model to check. I have a few buddies with 2010 and 2011 models and when I see them Thursday we will do a disection and report back to you all.

No footpegs and cooked legs and feet.

Okay... So I've been watching all of the complaints about the heat coming out from under the RT's Tupperware. Feet bursting into flames, overcooked sneakers, etc...
So yesterday I stuck a paw down into the stream of air coming out the Right-hand side; it's real warm, but it seems to be pushed outward away from the rider... :dontknow:
How many of the folks who are limping on cooked feet have added footpegs or rests up in that stream of air?
Now; My ISCI floorboards are set up in the lowest of four mounting positions; my feet are clearly below that airflow... No problem!
Any opinions???
I have had my leg just about melt and passengers feet really heat up. Seems to be related to where you are driving temps. If on highway not as bad but in traffic at 100 degrees it can suck big time. PS>>>RT 2012 Model..they didnt fix it.

After reading several threads discussing the "heat problem" and possible solutions, I have to wonder why some people find it unbearable and other report that they have no problems. After all, everything is the same ... or is it?

I don't have any problem with heat even with tennis shoes, but I believe the people who say it's a serious problem. I have to wonder, is it possible that the riding position (most likely due to leg length) could affect the aerodynamics enough to cause the heat to directed towards some people's feet and away from others?

Height: 6', inseam: 33" = no heat problem

My height 5'3", inseam 26" = no heat problem

Any other ideas?

Vertika floorboards pricing

I just got a quote from Vertika in these same boards. The cost of the boards painted (which they are doing now) is $2350 per pair ($500 was for the painting (orbital blue) and Red is $110 extra.) The shipping by FedEx would be $310 to ship to Arizona. This does not count the bill from the state for sales taxes which I underestand is billed to you later.

ME TOO!!!!!!!!!

Nope Stock RT and still burns not only my leg but my passengers foot as well. I think it depends on the temps your riding in.

I have a 2010RT SE5, PE # 801, strictly STOCK in every way & experience a LOT of heat on my right foot & leg. My passenger also gets a lot of heat on her foot & leg.

Additionally all of the right side Tupperware gets very hot as well as the plastic around the glove box.:yikes:

Heat problem?

I ride a 2011 RT-Limited. I am 5'11", 30" inseam. The last two months temperatures have been in the high 30's. I shift above 4500 rpm's. I wear biker boots all the time. I wear jeans all the time plus chaps a lot of times. No heat problems!!! And neither does my passenger.

Buddy rides a 2012 RT-Limited. Same size as me (didn't check his inseam). Same temperature. When I'm still in 1st gear, he's in 3rd. When I'm in 3rd he's in 5th. (I think he shifts way too soon). He wears shorts and flip-flops. :duh:
Oh!!! did I mention, he complains about lots of heat on the right foot.

We have checked out these two Spyders high and low,,, there is nothing different except a bit of extra chrome on the 2012, the colour of the cluster lights and the dashboard.
