• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

another ride report vertika vents

Are you still riding in "trailer mode" with no trailer? That would really hurt your mileage a bunch when town riding.

Not sure why you would say this. The only thing trailer mode does is not let you upshift unless the resulting drop in RPMs is above the clutch lockup minimum RPM. Plus, it will automatically downshift when the RPMs drop below the clutch lockup. These are things you should be doing anyway.

the only way i can tell right now is by the heat under the seat, but being it was cool out yesterday i didn't feel any. but sitting at a stop the temp rose almost to 3/4 on the gauge but when the fan came on i did see the gauge drop slightly. so when the weather get better and temps rise we will see what happens. i called the dealer yesterday to get the bike in for the update and he said not till thursday of next week

When you are in for the update, have them check the air hoses that connect to the throttle body . . . that was what precipitated the code I got on 22 March. One of the hoses split. There was another one at the dealer when mine was towed in, for the same issue, and the service guy told me a third came in, same problem, this week.

How accurate is this statement? Can others confirm/deny?

I have and trailer mode with no trailer sucks for town riding. You can not even shift into other gears between traffic lights without revving the engine so high you look like one of those crotch-rocket kids racing between lights. That's not my riding style. I can get my spyder into 3rd and cruise through town at a nice steady pace and just catch all the lights green without jamming through gears. Some of you worry way too much about that clutch lock-up rpm being life or death of the clutch, if your not lugging the engine or racing uphill in too tall of a gear it will not hurt that clutch, that's why there is the trailer mode for the additional weight of the trailer which could cause lugging of the engine. That clutch is "engaged" just off idle and "locked-up" at 3500rpm so lugging the engine below 3500 rpm could cause the clutch to indeed slip IF you let the rpm's drop low enough to allow the clutch to release for the gear your in that's why it automatically downshifts itself but it don't do that at 3500 rpm's.

You can confirm this by reading the owners manual.

I put Louise spyder in trailer mode before she ever drove it for the first time. Easy way to unlearn Harley shifting.
