I left Santa Rosa this morning and headed to Crescent City. It was a great day for a ride but the wind took some of the fun out of it. From about Eureka all the way to Crescent City the wind was just crazy. It was blowing so hard that I had to dodge pine cones that were falling out of the trees. There were a few parts of the road that the wind was trying to rip my helmet off my head and the chin strap was choking me out. I guess today was not normal talking to my in-laws but it is winding up there on the 101 pretty much all the time they say.
I don't feel like typing right now so I'll let the pictures do the talking. I pretty much pulled over anytime I saw something worth taking a pic of on the 101.
This was just cool. It was made out of scrap steel.
It took awhile before I saw any redwoods but I guess this is the Gateway or so they say.
This was a tree house but the house was in the tree. Understand that the RT with the trailer is about 17' long.
I got to tell you this trees are just unreal. There's no way for a picture to do it justice.
I looked and I never saw him.
This was a great shot but it's hard to get it all in with this camera.
If you look you can see a car on top of the hill, I saw him taking pictures as I was going by at 50mph, then I saw what he was taking pics of so I made a u-turn and got these shots. They were so cool and could care less that I was there.
Big guy with a lot of bull
These were the last shots I took before rolling into Crescent City. I surprised my in-laws to the max when I knocked on their door. They were just getting over the flu bug so I didn't stay too long but we did have a nice visit. From there I got a bite to eat and now I'm staying with my wife's brother and his family. Tomorrow I'll head to Oregon and then back home. That wind beat me up pretty good today so I'm done.
