As reported in a previous thread (http://www.spyderlovers.com/forums/showthread.php?97159-I-m-now-in-the-club), a week ago I discovered that there was a leak in my airbag, and the compressor had burned itself out trying to inflate it. I called RideNow in Chandler, AZ to see when I could get in to get it checked out. Surprisingly, I got scheduled for the very next day.
They took it apart while I waited, and after about thirty minutes, Jim the service advisor came out to tell me that they would need to order the airbag and compressor, and my Spyder would be in the shop for about a week. The parts have to come from Canada, so this is understandable. We're in the worst riding weather of the year here in Arizona (August), so I don't mind being without a bike for a week. I arranged a pick up from a friend, and went home.
Meanwhile, I ordered Doc Humphrey's "Air Ride Rock Armor", which arrived two days later (Thank you Doc!). I stopped by RideNow, and gave it to Jim, asking if they would install it while they had everything apart. He said they would be glad to do it!
Six days later, I got a call from Jim telling me that they had completed the work, but in the process had discovered a problem with a brake line. He explained that they would need to order the part, and it could be as much as another week. I was fine with that.
Three days later, this Saturday, I got another call from Jim saying that the part had come in and they had completed the work. My Spyder was ready to pick up. I'm in the middle of a tune-up on my broom, so I told him I'd pick it up Monday. All told, it was in the shop ten days. It would have been a lot less had they not had to wait for parts to come from Canada twice.
There's a common misconception that it's impossible to get service on a motorcycle if you didn't purchase it there. This is not the case. Everyone in the service department at RideNow is aware that I didn't purchase there, and in fact had posted a very negative review of their sales department. This is my second superb experience with RideNow Chandler, and so far, I have seen no evidence of them providing anything less than stellar service to me.
If you live in the Phoenix area, I highly recommend them for service on your Spyder.
P.S. Had this not been under the factory warranty, it would have cost me $1,500.00. While I was there, I purchased the BEST extended warranty for $660. I highly recommend this, as just one incident like this pays for it.
