• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

And so it begins...

Road Test - Wisconsin

I have to ask. Does your state have a actual road test for motorcyles ? Ohio and most states do it in a parking lot with cones.
Oldmanzues

Wisconsin doesn't like to give road tests..... long wait to get an appointment and limited locations. However I took it and they give you an actual roadtest by giving you a headset and following behind in car giving instructions.
They "stongly recommend" that you 1) take written test to get your temp license, then 2) take a riding\safety course from a Harley Dealer or technical school. If you pass the parking lot test at the course, they'll give you a certificate that you can take to Dept of Motor Vehicles and they'll give you a Motorcycle License without further testing.
Of course those courses aren't cheap and most require you ride one of their 2 wheelers during the course and test. I've heard that some folks have been able to take the course at tech schools on their 3 wheelers, but not in our area.

That was the only issue we had in buying our RT: "who would sit in the front seat?" She has had her motorcycle endorsement for about 30 years (and we are both a bit on the control freak side). But after about a 3 weeks of riding behind and getting her 'windshield time' in, she is getting closer and closer to her own Spyder. She doesn't want the RT though, she wants the sportier RS, which makes me even more nervous as she has a bit of a heavy wrist.

I, too, feel that "teenage-parent-driving" nervousness thing when she is ryding alone, but I just try to chill and act nonchalant like it's" all cool." (while silently throwing up in my mouth.) It's not that I don't trust her motorcycle skills, but we all know a Spyder is different from riding a regular motorcycle and then there is still the Charlotte traffic. The bottom line is: I value her life more than mine and being on any bike has some inherent risks. I just worry when I can't physically be The One minimizing those risks for her. In reality, she may be a better ryder than I am, but that doesn't mean I will stop fretting over it.

So... know anyone selling an RS in the Carolinas?
I'm in SC but I ride an RS-SE5 and my wife(SDM) has an RT-SE5 so I've driven both. Bought her :spyder2: in March and enjoyed riding it so much I got my :spyder2: in July. They do drive differently but find a big parking lot or safe area(we went around our block for about a week before we got up the nerve to hit the open roads),now we ride most every day together ,she will do fine, have fun:thumbup:

Yes, I am serious. That's funny in a Small-World-After-All sort of way. But we bought my Spyder from Velocity Powersports. They were the only dealers in a 600 mile radius of Charlotte to have a Limited in stock. I drove down, Scotty was my sales guy, but Chris was the Spyder guru who got me up to speed in the differences between the Can-Am and a 2 wheeler. Test drove and then drove it home to Charlotte that day. Great guys. I wish they were closer, so I could have them do my mods. Huge dealership!

Unless we find a good deal on a 2009-2010 RS, we may wait until the new model year comes out in a couple of months. It may help lower prices on pre-owned models or we may get a her a new one. In the meantime, she is taking the Motorcycle Safety Class to knock the rust off her skills and getting in as much windshield time as she can (not much with her schedule). She drove it to work today, but back home for lunch so I can take it for a ride at the end of the day before she gets home. Getting so you have to schedule a ryde a few days in advance, make an appointment, then have your peeps check with my peeps about Spyder availability!
