There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. AN OPTIMAL ROUTE TO TAKE YOU TO ALL 47 NATIONAL PARKS

Note:
This route is 15,758 miles and would take you 11 days, 14 hours and 30 minutes to drive straight through each location.
Kings Canyon is currently closed due to the wildfires that are consuming California’s forests right now, and because of that it is not included in the interactive version.
You’ll have to take a ferry to three of these National Parks, but these directions will take you as close as you can get on land.

Something to remember or consider, is that if you're 62 or over, you qualify for a Senior National Park Pass. Currently, $10 for a lifetime, but it goes up in price, $70 on 8 August 2017. The Golden Eagle pass is still valid for those that have one, but are no longer being issued.

Does not cover all National Parks.

I did a quick search and there shows three National Parks in Indiana, that are net listed. Am I missing something?

What 11 days? That sounds like a challenge. I bet I could do it in 10 days. :roflblack:

Any bids for 9 days, 9 days, c'mon, do I hear 9 days, any bids for 9 days.... :2thumbs:

Where's that auctioneers gavel when you need one?!? :roflblack:

Will this one do instead??:bdh:

Now seriously, that looks like it could be a fantastic trip, but I don't think I'd even try for 12 days; still, do'ya reckon I could rent a Spyder somewhere near an International Terminal/Flight from Aust so the Missus & I could do all those National Parks in just a couple of weeks, or possibly a few??.... altho it might take a bit more extra 'get used to ryding in the States again' time, it has been a couple of years since I hadta drive on the wrong side of the road - the right hand side, that is! :riding:

Seems to be a difference in the classification. Some places (the ones on the list) are full fledged national parks and other places are classified as national historic sites, national monuments, etc.. Semantics.

Question: How are you defining "Optimal"?
Is it covering the most ground in the least time and miles?

That hardly seems like much fun!

Why not try to take the MOST days and miles? You might get to seel a whole lot more of the Country!

That's called being retired!

:D:agree:
Just for fun: 15,758 miles in 278.5 hours (14 days 11 hours, 30 minutes); would require an average speed of 56.582 mph.
During this period of time: you'd be hard-pressed to schedule any fuel stops, sleep, meals, bathroom stops, or sightseeing...

The US has 59 NPs (according to Wikipedea). Seven are in Alaska, one in Hawaii, one in the Virgin Islands and one in Samoa. Not all of them in the CUSA are accessible by road.

Okay, here's where it came from; https://www.islebox.com/2015/national-parks-road-trip/

[h=1]NATIONAL PARKS ROAD TRIP[/h]National Parks are one of the greatest ideas the United States has ever had. With the advent of the first national park in 1872 (Yellowstone), there have been 58 more protected areas in the United States designated as National Parks. Since are they so awesome, why not try to visit them all?
There are over 2 x 10[SUP]59[/SUP] different routes you could take to visit the 47 national parks that lie in the contiguous United States (we checked). It could take a very, very long time to use a computer to find the absolute optimal route, and by then you could have visited all 47 National Parks in the US, as well as the other 11 in Alaska and Hawaii. As a bonus, you could have also visited all of the National Monuments, Historic Places, Lakeshores, and more (There are more than 350 of these combined!).

Luckily, there was someone out there who created an algorithm to speed this whole process up. Randy Olson created a blog post outlining this, as well as creating an optimal road trip across the US. His road trip includes National Parks, but does not come close to visiting all of them. That’s where we come in!
In this road trip that we have constructed, we give you a pretty optimal route to take you to all 47 national parks. We chose to exclude Hawaii as it is pretty hard to drive to. We also chose to exclude Alaska due to distance from the contiguous 48 – maybe a separate Alaska National Park map is in order?

We could figure something out I'm sure!

Sounds like...

Sounds more like an Iron Butt challenge, those guys and girls too like to ride. Me too but I don't think I'll take this up.

I have been to all that are shown on that map but 9 of them but not in the same time frame, part of the benefit of being a traveling construction superintendent.

No kidding? That's amazing.

I've been to every state but Road Island and Connecticut and have worked in 38 of them, most superintendents spend their after work hours and weekends either in the bar or Hotel but I always checked out the local country, I always cut a deal that the company would fly me home once a month or my wife out to where I was working, so she has seen most of the states also. I'm on my last project in Portland OR that will see me to retirement in 12-2018 then I get to take more long rides.
