• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

After you see the SE5 on Wed you might withdraw your invite.

I'd love for her to enter. If a spyder walks away top dog that would be great. I would only enter to have fun as it should be. Roger remember to bring the can of mud.:roflblack:

With Jody working, unfortunatly there is nobody to watch his handicapped daughter T, so I don't think she will be able to go herself.

You're also right, that bringing a "gun" like our SE5 to a "knife fight", would not be fair ether.

Americade Spyder Gathering - 2010

First of all, many, many thanks to rnet and Roger for organizing a great ride on Thurs, June 10 at Americade. Both men plotted the ride, rode on the loop on May to reconnoiter, found great places for breakfast and lunch and had all of the bases covered. We couldn't ask for more -- unless they could have controlled the weather.

Americade was very rainy this year and the Thurs. weather report wasn't good. I feared that the ride would be cancelled but got up by 5:30AM so we could ride to Fort Ann and be at the meet-up by 7. When we got there, the parking lot was empty so we thought that, maybe, the ride had been cancelled but, somehow, we had missed the memo. Being hungry we decided to have breakfast -- the place was called Sally's Hen House -- and it was one of the best and least expensive I've had in a long time.

Soon, folks started arriving on Spyders so we were delighted the ride was still on. What's a little rain, anyway? Eventually, fastfraser and his wife, rnet and his passenger - Anne, Roger, Spyderdude, Spyderman990, vtrider, starcruiser, and peoriafirefighter made up the group (mike3069 joined us at Mt. Equinox). As always, it is good to see friends we'd met before and to make new friends.

We left Fort Ann and rode down Rt 22 towards Bennington, Vt. Arriving there we stopped at the Bennington Monument. It commemorates a Revolutionary War battle nearby. The monument is over 300' high. Riding to near the top allowed us to see spectacular views of the surrounding country.

We also saw three covered bridges in the Bennington area. The Henry Bridge is typical but still very impressive.

Leaving Bennington we made our way towards Manchester, Vt. rnet had been up to Mt. Equinox before but the top was clouded in so he hoped this time he might have a clear view. Unfortunately, though the sky was clearing a bit, we couldn't see the valleys below. It was here that we took a group picture. How to describe the ascent? Hmmmm...take a Tennesee twisty and add a really steep incline. The mt is 3850' in elevation and, according to Wikipedia, was once a site for cryogenically frozen, high IQ persons to be preserved. During the descent, the sky cleared and the sun broke through revealing a view of many mts in the Taconic range stretching out for probably 100 miles. It was a great sight.

We had lunch (one of the biggest sandwiches I've ever seen) at Manchester. Very light rain had dogged us all morning but it unleashed while we were eating. We decided, unfortunately, to return to Lake George at that point.

The return trip was rainy including lightning, small hail, and drenching rain -- so heavy that I couldn't see the bike ahead of me. It did not deter us, however.

When we first met in the morning, someone called us the "die hards"; the day gave ample proof of that name. If we hadn't have gone, we would have missed the camaraderie, the ride, the views, the food and, best of all, riding a Spyder with friends. What could be better?

Thanks, again, to everyone who rode with us and to rnet and Roger for planning a great trip.

If you'd like to see my few, modest photos, they're here:

I'm sure better ones will appear shortly.

The only time I like to hear about rail like that is when I didn't make the trip, sorry. ;)

Sounds like a great time anyway. Great pics too, thanks for sharing.

Sounds good i guess we can gas up the night before or first thing thursday morning. This is going to be so cool. :2thumbs::2thumbs::2thumbs:

Quick note to let everyone know I made it home ok. Will post later.

Rnet, I made it back to Peoria, if you thought the rain was bad on our ride the day we toured Bebbington, you should have seen the storm I hit in Columbus, Ohio, the trucks were even pulled over and a lot of downed trees. That was after I had ridden 800 miles that day so I finally called it a day and got a hotel room, finished the last 300 miles today and made it safely home. It was a great time even with the rain. Thanks again buddy!

Thanks for some great pictures guys as I didn't get a chance to take many. I also want to give a big thanks to ISCI, for there hand brake saved me from some probable injury had I not had it. I'm sure some of you guys saw what happened when the truck that was turning left decided to turn into the next entry at the gas station. Anyways, I had a great time with everyone and was fun setting it up. I know Roger's got some pictures also, and he hasn't posted them yet. Roger's got friends with the media and think he's trying to do a documentary of the ride. I think Anne may help him. By the way here's a correction to kt post. Anne is not my wife ,but a good friend of say 10 years. She is a newbie on two wheels and since rain was likely, she preferred riding with me. Any ideas for next year, I know some of you guys have already done the ferry crossing. I have a few. so we will see how it plays out.
