• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Advice on mobile phone placement, what would work?

Electronics Mounting On 2018 F3 - Ltd

Hello Guys/Gals,

I have a 2018 F3-L and a large Android Note 8. Use the Lamonster XL Quick Grip holder w/ball and mount. This is designed for the larger Android and Apple Phones. The top pulls up on a spring to snap back against whatever size phone you have. Also, the adjustable side pegs can accommodate most any width of your phone. Have had this arrangement for 3 years now, and it's been flawless. There is a link at the bottom directly to this product for your viewing. In addition, I have a few snapshots of the rest of my handlebar gadgets for your review.

The GPS on the left is a Garmin 65 with ball mount. The center radio is a ham radio VHF/UHF transceiver with Bluetooth to helmet audio. The phone on the right is the Android Samsung Note 8 with the Lamonster XL mount. All have worked very well.

Regards,

Airjohn In Utah...

+1 on this phone holder. I've got it mounted in the center on a ram mount. Works great.

The bottom picture looks like it would block the view of the instrument cluster, but when you're on the Spyder, you have a clear view of the gauge cluster.

I just put in glove box and Ryde. If someone text or calls, I get it on my Apple Watch and stop to reply. My phone is too expensive to go flying down the road when some idiot cuts me off!

Depending on your phone size, for large screens like my Samsung Fold 5 when it is opened up, I had to buy a RAM Mount X-Grip (with a tether) on a handlebar ball mount.

Works great. No issues at high speeds.

It looks like it blocks the instrument cluster. Does it?
No, it doesn't block the cluster. I'll try to get a picture from head height of the phone in the mount.

Gotta see if the batteries in my digital camera works, first. ;D

The camera batteries were good, so I went out to the garage and climbed onto my Spyder, mounted the iPhone in the Arkon mount, and took this picture while looking through the viewfinder of my Canon PowerShot A710IS:

Edit: the phone is an Apple iPhone SE 2nd Gen in an Otterbox Defender case

Wife and I just got Tackform Adventure Mounts. They can charge or not; very adjustable for whatever size phone you have. We use the handlebar clamp mount.
