• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Advice for a driver-to-be?

Is the Starcom wired or wireless?

Wired.

Anyway, I have another question to add to this little thread: What mileage can I expect from an RS-S? I've heard everything from 25 to 35,

Yep! We've averaged just under 30 over 2+ years.

depending on how aggressive your driving style is, and whether you're doing 80 on the highway or stop'n'going on a busy city street, by is that the RS or the RT - or both?

RT will be slightly worse.
:D

:yikes: :hun:
That's actually bit of a surprise! I expected the more "aggressive" RS to be more gas-hungering than the RT, but I can see why; after all, the RT weighs a tad more.
Thanks for it!

Yet another question: If I decide to (aka. have to) get a bike license, will I be able to do the driving lessons on my trike, or must I drive a two-wheeler? After all - at least according to many a debate on this forum - a motorcycle is "any vehicle with no more than three wheels".

I must thank you guys again for answering all my questions! It's hard being so unexperienced. :gaah:

EDIT: Adding one more question to the seemingly endless flood of mysteries... Is it possible (and relatively easy) to replace the windshield on the RS? I was thinking of buying the RS with either the standard windshield or the Ultra Sport, if not even an aftermarket windshield, and the Ultra Touring one for longer trips, weekend trips etc. Is that humanly possible to do it yourself, or is windshield changing a dealer job?

EDIT 2: Wow, there's no dealership in Denmark, the nearest is just south of the Danish border, in Flensburg, which is about 180 miles south from here. That just sucks. I hope I'll be able to move to the States within the next few years.

It depends on the rules where you live. I have no idea about Denmark. Some states have courses for trikes, while others do not. Many of the classes will have 2 wheelers on hand for the students to use and take the tests on. While this doesn't give you the experience of ryding your own Spyder, it does teach you many important safety issues.

Windshield replacement is extremely easy, and there are many options to choose from. In fact, don't be surprised if it takes more than one windshield before you find the one that works best for you. Many of us have at least 2, if not more, lying around that were not the best suited to us.

Best of luck with the moving to the States; however, you might be surprised to find that there are many places that do not have any dealers very close to them here as well. You may want to check the list of US dealers on the BRP site to see if there are any where you are thinking of moving to. ;)

See my replies above in red. Hope that helps.

Geez, you are so damn helpful, y'know?

I think trike laws, endorsement-wise, are one of the untouched areas of the Danish road laws. I've heard that they can be driven with a normal class B (car in Danish is bil, thus the letter B) license. Might be MC though, I think it's the weight of the vehicle that defines the class. Might be something like 'any three-wheeled vehicle below 500 kilograms is defined as a motorcycle'. I dunno.

I was thinking of California, more specifically the Long Beach area, mainly because I have a friend there who might help me ... well, teach me the American (almost spelled that Amerycan, but I guess that's OK on this particular site) way of living. The American lifestyle is so different from the average Danish - and European - lifestyle.
Actually, I have my doubts about California. Not because of the place itself, but because there's so many other wonderful places Stateside. There's also about 228.00768 times more space. I wonder if I could even cope with the heat of the South States?! After all, I'm used to a max day temperature of 25-ish (oh, Celcius, that is !!!) in the summer.

Many of the Motorcycle Safety Classes will have their own 2 wheelers you can use to get through the course. I have not heard of any that actually have a specific course for 3 wheelers yet, but someone else may have.

As for sound, many of us just use our MP3 players with ear buds. I personally like the fit, comfort, and I get good enough sound while ryding from my Ear Fuze.

I have been on several weekend long trips with my Spyder, and have been able to carry everything I need in the frunk. You may be pleasantly surprised, and not need the hard bags. :)

Didn't know I had a "Frunk" Where is it? I Will have to take a closer look with the manual.:roflblack::roflblack::roflblack::D

California doesn't require a motorcycle endorsement. California is also a big enough state to offer all types of different climates for you to experience. If you do not like the heat very much, then you do not want to live near me in South Carolina though. Yesterday was 99 degrees F with 85% humidity. Whoever said it is a jungle out there wasn't kidding.

I think someone on this site made up the term. It is your FRont trUNK, FRUNK. :ohyea:
